He is going to be such an embarrassment when the general election rolls around, he is senile. He didn't even show up to vote!

You can go to that first link and read his somewhat fucking crazy assed full statement, its hard to believe. Webbs bill passed easily. One thing I read somewhere: Mccain was 5th from the bottom of his Annapolis class and lost FIVE aircraft, 2 in training, while he was in the military.

I would trust John McCain's judgement on this over Obama's simply because Obama never served one single day in the military. I never did, so I can't comment on the retention point that McCain and the Pentagon is making - but I do know that McCain has a different bill that he will put forth.

That aside, you can attack McCain for losing aircraft or whatever - don't forget to mention that when Obama was at that age he doing dope and coke.

and what wars were going on then? Anyways, the GI Bill was not drafted by Obama, it was drafted by Jim Webb...who is a superior to John McCain in the Navy.

What difference did it make if there was a war going on at the time? Obama could have chose to serve his country. He didn't.

As for the GI Bill - it seems that McCain is not signing on for a good reason. After all, look at all of the flack that he is taking for not doing so - he is a principled man and has said it would badly damage retention. He is taking the unpopular position. Can you name one time when Obama did so?

It doesn't make a bit of difference, though. There's no reason why a President can't make smart decisions without serving in the military.

That's a good one, Vacate! and has said it would badly damage retention. He is taking the unpopular position. Can you name one time when Obama did so? Obama's positions are popular so, uh, no. :D

It is far more commendable to have done drugs than to fought in a war like Vietnam. At least it did not bother you when Bush was doing them. Hmm.. you supported the draft dodging burnout in 2004 over a Vietnam vet.. why not this time as well ?

Coming from the person (hypocrite) who supports the party that trashed McCain's service in the 99/00 election campaign.

Now military service is an issue.

Do we need to go over the list of Bush (including himself) admin officials who never served?

Why does it matter now?

Sure. In October of 2002 he gave a speech saying how the incredibly popular Iraq War would be a very dumb war
