Whoops! I accidentally sought the endorsement and proclaimed a great spiritual guide a dumb motherfucker who said there is no such thing as a Muslim extremist or a Muslim terrorist, there are just Muslims, and now I realize this may seem a little crazy. This is our very own Stonewall's father. A man who believes the very founding of our great nation was to eradicate the false religion of Islam from the planet, a man that John McCain had great respect for...until tonight.

It took him long enough, but at least McCain distanced himself from the wacko. How long did Bush hang on to duds like Rumsfeld and Alberto Gonzales?

Grandpa sought out the endorsement of Hagee, but did he ask for Parsley, if not I cant hold that against the guy. Plus, to much religion in these campaigns already and it's only gonna get worse.

Yes he did and he very graciously accepted the endorsement

McCain rejects endorsements of two controversial clerics
By Libby Quaid
The Associated Press
Tucson, Arizona | Published: 05.23.2008
Calif. — Republican John McCain on Thursday rejected endorsements from two influential but controversial televangelists, saying there is no place for their incendiary criticisms of other faiths.

McCain rejected the months-old endorsement of Texas preacher John Hagee after an audio recording surfaced in which the preacher said God sent Adolf Hitler to help Jews reach the promised land. McCain called the comment "crazy and unacceptable."

He later repudiated the support of Rod Parsley, an Ohio preacher who has sharply criticized Islam and called the religion inherently violent .

McCain issued a statement Thursday announcing his decision about Hagee.
"Obviously, I find these remarks and others deeply offensive and indefensible, and I repudiate them," he said.
"I did not know of them before Reverend Hagee's endorsement, and I feel I must reject his endorsement as well."
Later, in Stockton, he told reporters: "I just think that the statement is crazy and unacceptable."
Then in an interview with The Associated Press, McCain said he rejected Parsley's endorsement, as well.
"I believe there is no place for that kind of dialogue in America, and I believe that even though he endorsed me, and I didn't endorse him, the fact is that I repudiate such talk, and I reject his endorsement," McCain said .

Hagee had sparked controversy since the San Antonio pastor endorsed McCain on Feb. 27 shortly before the Texas presidential primary.
Parsley's views were aired Thursday in an ABC News report.
McCain actively courted Hagee, who leads a megachurch with a congregation in the tens of thousands and has an even wider television audience.
Former GOP presidential rivals also sought Hagee's backing.
Hagee has referred to the Roman Catholic Church as "the great whore" and called it a "false cult system."
He also has linked Hitler to the Catholic church, suggesting it helped shape his anti-Semitism.
And Hagee said Hurricane Katrina was God's retribution for homosexual sin.
McCain has faced a barrage of criticism over Hagee, with some comparing the situation to the controversy Democrat Barack Obama faced over the views of his longtime and now former pastor, the Rev. Jeremiah Wright.
McCain tried Thursday to draw a distinction between the Obama-Wright connection and his own relationships with Parsley and Hagee, saying Hagee was not his pastor.
"My church I attend is North Phoenix Baptist Church; my pastor and spiritual guide is Pastor Dan Yeary," McCain said.
"I've never been to Pastor Hagee's church or Pastor Parsley's church. I didn't attend their church for 20 years. I'm not a member of their church."

Until now, McCain had tried to distance himself from Hagee's views but had not rejected the endorsement.

stop what lying? The thread is about McCain finally dumping Parsely after dumping Hagee even though he initially sought and gracefully accepted their endorsements...that was what your article was about

Zimmie, still trying to convince people that they should take you seriously? :giggle:

You're a pathetic sack of shit.

Now on to the topic, I'd have to say that I think it's funny that McCain had to go on record as saying Hagey's comments were 'crazy'...

Hahahahaha Hitler was sent by God to help Jews reach the promised land?

How can anyone take any religion seriously when these are the kinds of 'pearls of wisdom' that they give us to use....

Who cares if McCain's pastors preach Hitler was sent from God and that we should start a second holocaust and kill all Muslims, Wright said "God damn America"!!

Sorry buddy. I won the bet, and you welched.

this thread is just a veiled attempt to draw a parallel between Rev Wright and Obama with McCain and these guys. Sorry it doesn't wash. McCain never stepped foot in their churches, didn't bring his children up to listen to a rascist preach or develop a mentor/father figure relationship with these guys....

I hope and pray Obama's people make a commercial of him singing that song and talking about 100 years in Iraq.

Amen (no pun intended).

This Hagee/Parsley nonsense that the Liberals are working so hard at pushing is a complete deflection from Obama's intimate relationship with his racist, anti-Semetic, anti-American "mentor."

For example:

Did John McCain donate over $45,000 in two years to these churches the way Obama subsidized Wright's church and their newsletter that printed op-eds written by leaders of Hamas? Answer - no.

It's a good try, but this shit ain't sticking.
ArivacaCharlie
Okay. McCain (better late than never) rejected the controversial endorsements. So, the controversy is over, right?
Then, all you right-wingers stfu about Wright and let's get on with the campaign!

No.

Hagee/Parsley endorsed McCain's policy proposals.

Obama endorsed Wright's views by sitting in the pews of Trinity United for 20 years and subsidized Wright's vitriol financially. He also maintained an intimate relationship that Obama described as Wright acting as his "mentor" and named his book after one of Wright's sermons.

The two are not comparable, and if it was revealed that McCain spent 20 years listening to a pastor who preached white supremacy he would be out of the running and out of the Senate.

Oh, it's sticking.
And, there will be more to come.
I predict that, during the campaign, there will be endorsements and rejections, hirings and firings from the McCain camp. I don't think this guy has had a constant or consistant thought since he initially realized, "Wow, it sucks in this tiger box!"

Yes. McCain actively sought out both endorsements. Just because he is too insincere to take a couple of hours each Sunday to actually sit in a church, doesn't mean this is any different than Obama saying complimentary things about Wright.

If McCain even survives the campaign.
I was watching the news last night and some of the footage they showed of McCain looked like he was shuffling around like a tired old man.
I predict - and, trust me, I'm not looking forward to it or wishing it on the poor old fart - at least one emergency trip to the hospital.
He likes to use his mom as an example of him having a long, healthy constitution....Maybe she ought to be the person running.

The same people that blast Obama about his preacher are the same nitwits that still go to their Catholic Church whose leader tried to cover up the 100,000 child molestation cases. Please, save your hypocrisies for the hot chic at the bar.
