We Americans have a reputation around the world for being idiots, so I'd like to see how true this (mainly European) preconception of Americans is. And no Googling the answers. If you do, then you know that you haven't passed this little quiz. Answer only what you know, please, and don't post again. I ask you all to take this seriously. Also, any British, Canadian or other SFNers are welcome to play.
P.S. I only asked questions that I already knew the answers to, and in my mind, these are very easy questions. And if you happen to look up the answers afterward, don't spoil it for others.
1. What was the former name of Myanmar, the Southeast Asian country recently hit by a cyclone?
2. What nation did the US support during the Iran-Iraq War in the '80s?
3. In which modern-day nation was Josef "Stalin" Dzhugashvili born?
4. What nation has Stockholm as it's capital?
5. What is the name of the current PM of Canada?
6. To what nation does the highest percentage of the US government's foreign aid go to?
7. What form of Christianity is the national religion of Greece?
8. Complete the sentence: The island of Hispaniola consists of these two nations: Dominican Republic and _____?
9. The nation of Lesotho is on what continent?
10. In what country is the Magyar language spoken?
Again, please do not spoil this for those who wish to take the test. |

How about some questions with relevant sense:
1. What percentage of worldwide terrorism is currently carried out by the "religion of peace"?
2. Name the 14+ worldwide conflicts currently related to Islam. How many actually involve the Jews/Israel?
3. Who benefits from each of our candidates tax plans? Who suffers?
4. What is the main risk of today's credit derivatives markets on the U.S. economy and why?
5. What major financial institution was really "bailed out" by the government and why? (hint it's not Bear). What would have been the ripple affect across the U.S. if this did not occur?
6. What is the significance of the geographical location of Iraq and the overall "war on terror"
7. Name 1 successful Islamic theocracy where true democracy reigns?
8. Name 1 successful democracy in the middle east region.
Anyone else want to add some additional relevant questions? |

Anyone else want to add some additional relevant questions? | I put in all of the geographical questions because that seems to be the type of knowledge that Europeans think we Americans lack an understanding of. Just so you know. The questions were basic for a reason. |
