anyone else wonder why there was no footage of Alanis singing in the daily show? is it a licensing issue? I thought the singing was the best part of the show.

My bad...I didn't see the previous post on this...either way, Howie didn't really get anywhere with the interview, so leaving out the music part was dumb...what gives?

HTV is too busy spending their budget on boring shit like the Miss Howard Stern Fake Reality Show and Bowling Bimbos instead of getting the rights to play a few music clips.

They say its copyright bs which I hate because they aired Lauper's performance which also was great!

Question... Do Letterman, Leno, Conan, Kimmel, all have to pay a licensing fee to air a musical performance?

Isn't it a "you scratch my back, I scratch yours" type of thing? Wouldn't the record companies want the publicity for their artist and isn't the talk show doing THEM a favor having by booking them?
