This is the 06-19-08 Super Fan Roundtable Brainstorming Thread. Here I lay out the show and ask you the fans, what should we discuss? Help us plan the show here by letting me know what this weeks hot topics are?
This weeks we have Wolf (regular caller), incysternfan, Paul (email), & ClumpyStern. I believe Wolf will be in Gary's office in the morning to observe him.
SETTING THE TABLE (LINK)
- Setting the table vs setting the scene. Who's right? Which expression have you heard before?
- Gary brought in articles using "setting the table" the same way he used it and on the wrap up show explained how it's often used on sports shows. Did Gary prove to you sufficiently that his expression was correct?
- Howard found evidence that the correct expression is setting the stage. This was enough for him to say he was right. Was he serious or just beating up Gary for radio? Even if that is the correct expression, than isn't it proof that they are both wrong?
- Was it fun to hear Howard beat up the Booey?
GANGE MAN CODE
- Gange's upset that Artie broke the "man code" by trying to pickup Miss Howard Tracy because he's been striking out with her for 6 months & therefore is his. The fact that she has a live in boyfriend or that she threw herself at Artie saying she dump him for a chance to go out with Artie evidently means nothing to him. He saw her first & Artie should back off.
- This mentality may work for shotgun but should it apply when trying to pickup a chick?
- If Gange is right, at what point should should he except he's not getting her and relinquish her to other takers?
KIMMELL
- Ralph calls out Jimmy Kimmell on ripping off Howard. Jealous of the attention he gets from Howard or does he have a point?
- Kimmell emails with threats of violence against Ralph. Joke or seriously pissed?
- Who do you think would win in the fight?
RETURN OF THE GUESTS (LINK)
- some people complain the show hasn't had a lot of quality guests on. But recently we've had Carly Simon, Vern Troyer, Rosie O'Donnell, Kathy Griffin, Alanis Morissette, Mary McCormack and Charlie Murphy. Throw in Will the Farter, the Playboy Chicks, Tito Ortiz and Chuck Zito and the show has been jam packed with guests the last two weeks. So, are you happy about it or upset about it? (do you like guests)
- We've all heard callers bitching about the lack of A-listers. Do these guest meet your high standards?

- Chuck Zito, is he really the best radio guy out there as Howard says?
- Yucko & Nicole, tragedy or comedy?

- Howard & Beth's lack of foreplay, trouble in paradise?
- Lisa G could be into Artie if he changed everything about himself & got a trainer, compliment or insult?
- Ronnie Mund - totally outta line these day or same old same old?
- Howard says he's listened to the fans and will limit ETM's airtime. Has he followed thru?
- Howard spent Father's Day alone. No kids/no parent......what's up with that?
- If Tabitha Stevens bangs 1000 of Howard Stern fans, are you in?
- Kaplan wants to take photos of naked men to make extra scratch. Is that gay?
- Howard says Scott the Engineer is the best he's worked with but questions whether or not he's screwing off with personal bullshit at work. Hard worker or slacker?
- Artie sleeps in the studio again. Are you getting tired of it or is it still radio gold?
- Ben Stern calls in to talk politics & the merger and the fans are split down the middle as to whether it sucked or was great. Which camp are you in?

CALLING INTO THE SHOW: When calling into the show, there's no need to give shout outs to SFN or your friends on SFN. We don't have a ton of time so please don't waste any of it. We already have topics setup. Please be a good caller and respond to the topics. Thanks 1-888-STERN-101
GETTING ON THE SHOW: Each week I start a roundtable brainstorming thread where the fans help build our topics and a listening thread where people discuss the show while it's happening. if you'd like to do the show, get in there and participate. Once you've been around for awhile and see how the show works, ask to be on and pick a open date. The schedule can be found here. We have 4 people on each show and I try to make at least one of them a brand new person who's never been on. You can make your requests here in the Super Fan Roundtable forum or you can email them here.
GUESTS OF THE SHOW: The show airs from the Sirius studios in NYC Times Square. It's on the 36th floor of the McGraw Hill building on the corner of 49th & 6th in studio 21. (Google MAP) Guests should be there at 6PM so we can do mic checks. The show goes live at 7PM. You can not bring any friends. our studio is very small and there's really no place for them. I'll need your full name in advance and you need to bring your ID for security. If I don't put you on the list and you don't have your ID, you will not be able to get in.
This is an office and you are expected to be on your best behavior. It's not some free for all party. You shouldn't do anything that you would do when stopping by the bank. You cannot bring alcohol, take off your clothes, make noise, or bother people. I know you are a Stern fan but we're not out at the bar. You need to be cool. Don't stop them and ask for an autograph or photo. Everytime one of you misbehaves, I get a new rule to follow.
You CAN NOT walk around Sirius. You will be escorted from the upstairs lobby to the studio and back out. Do not take it upon yourself to just walk around & check things out. Nobody is allowed to stop by other shows. DO NOT stop by Ferrall's studio under any circumstances even if you think it's OK. I've been told by management that it's not. If you'd like to be a guest on Ferrall, they need to put you on their guest list.
You may take photos in the studio but please do not take pictures in the halls or lobby.
DO NOT sign the wall.
All plugs must be approved in advance. If you are going to be on the show and you have something to plug, you need to let me know the day before. ANYONE WHO PLUGS A WEBSITE OR BUSINESS WITHOUT PERMISSION WILL NOT BE INVITED BACK. |

-Lisa G being full of shit about (1) not dating Howard if he were single, and (2) aggressively pursuing the dirt on everybody else in the stern world but refusing to answer any basic questions about herself.
-Hell freezing over this week after Ricketty Man was actually right about something (Lisa G.).
-ETM should be trained (like a dog) to becoming ETAPAAM (Eric The Always Polite And Appreciative Midget). All it would take is Howard quietly hanging up on him every single time he forgets to be polite or appreciative. Let him keep calling back angrier and angrier but hang up on him the instant he sounds angry or insulting to anybody or forgets to say "thank you." If he stops calling back, that would be fine too, because the established pattern of ETM calls is really boring the shit out of everybody except Howard, Ralph, and Jimmy Kimmel. |

| I find ETM (more accurately Howard's masterful interactions with ETM) consistently hysterical. At time's he doesn't get the joke (that he IS the joke), at other times his indignance and sense of entitlement is mind-blowing. Then for "dessert", Artie in the background deadpans... "Yeah asshole, thanks for calling, go fuck yourself!" I laugh out loud every time. |

I think a good topic would be all the additional voices on the Wrap-Up Show. Many of us think Baba Booey & Jon Hein are terrific but the show seems to have been taken over by the likes of JD, Benjy, Shulli & Jason. They don't really add anything substantive and in fact take away airtime from the two hosts. I think the show was superior with the 2 of them and sometimes a guest would drop by such as Artie or Sal, but it's getting to be every day now with JD, Benjy, Shulli or Jason.
The Wrap-Up show was much better a year ago. |

there was a call into the wrap up show today who spoke about it. gary started giving some type of answer then the caller changed the subject. i really thought we might get something out of it.
Howard is setting us up for something to do with his daughters. He doesn't let shit out he doesn't want us to know. He's allowed us a hint here and there in anticipation of something big breaking.
I think that Emily might be mad at Robin for saying something about Howard's daughter and a nutritionist. Howard had met someone in a restaurant and Robin said "That's the nutritionist i was telling you about for your daughter". Then none of his kids could be with him for father's day? |

Please to recall that I called most of these conditions months ago. FCC Chair Martin simply has zero spine and that is the reason it's taken so long. Sirius can live with these conditions. Martin would not have come out publicly without 2 other votes from the 5 member FCC. This deal is all but done. |

This kind of war is classic stern, it is so damn good. Mutt, a few times you turned up facts on an issue that were not known by the crew. If you could have an expert source confirm that Booey is wrong that would be excellent, Gary is starting to get annoyed. Imagine you could get Jackie to chime in on this and wail on the Booey?

Anybody mention the Ben Stern call? Love hearing Howard's dad talks politics. Also, I thought it was interesting that Ben didn't comment on Howard being one of the 100 most influential people. Maybe Ben didn't hear Howard say it?
