I knew nothing about this when I read it, I doubt they will make an issue of it, but just like every other candidate, he needs to release all of his military records. The guy sure had problems keeping planes in the air. |

He's played the maverick, and it's been shown to be a lie. He's played a straight-talker and that's been shown to be a lie. He's played a centrist and that's been shown to be a lie.
Why should we accept his self-designation as a war hero?

McCain may not even survive the general campaign. He looks tired and beaten already. His voice is weak and unsteady, his eyes are glassy.
He is a beaten old man trying valiantly to hold on to a bit of relevance.
By November, he'll have to be taken to the polling booth in a wheelchair and someone will have to lift his hand to pull the lever.
Sad that this broken down old pilot is the best that the GOP can produce anymore. |

you can't blame "the dems" for this... it's the press.
Just like you can't blame the RNC for bringing up Rev. Wright... it was bound to happen... the press digs this shit up...
Now the commercials the RNC ran using Rev. Wright... you can blame on them... as soon as I see the DNC running ads that say "McCain is not really a war hero" you'll be correct...
until then you're still delusional. |

Obama keeps himself wisely above the fray. |

I won't cry, nor did I when it happened to Kerry.
It's politics in America and, if a candidate can't successfully win a battle over bullshit, he probably shouldn't be President.
I don't see this hurting Obama actually. People are beginning to see McCain for the nitwit that he is. Even those who aren't entirely aligned with Obama may hold their nose and vote for him once they meet the real John McCain. |

THEY'RE GONNA VOTE FOR WHOMEVER THEY'RE GONNA VOTE FOR.
(oops! cap locks were on)
The American voter can begin redemption by voting for Obama or sink the Nation by voting for McCain. The choice is theirs and the choice is that obvious.
Anything I say on this board will not change anybody's mind.
So, come November, we will begin a National rebuilding or we can kiss America good-by and chalk this whole thing up to a social experiment that, ultimately, failed. |

LOL....okay.
If Americans are stupid enough to vote for McCain because I'm holding the mirror up and showing them their own stupidity, they fuckin' deserve what they get.
But, between us, I sure don't want you to think I'm a "negative Nancy" so I'll just keep telling everybody that things are fine, the economy is great, America is as strong and proud as ever, etc etc.

and you will get what you get john mccain for president. i don't think dems know how to fashion an argument anymore it seems. the econ goes up and the econ goes down. gas prices are high and will get higher and in the end our air will be cleaner. higher prices means less traffic and maybe would help the so-called global warming to a slower pace |

America has not been at such a low point ever in my lifetime.
Our domestic policies cause more problems every hour. Our foreign policies have changed us from a global leader to a global joke.

My guess is no opinion has ever been changed in here nor will it ever happen.
When an idea or opinion is given here (no matter whether from the Left or the Right), the response is negative.
We've all been guilty of it here. It is part of the SFN culture. |

so what ? all countries go through this
i can't remember ever a time when anything was ever perfect..we have been sliding my entire lifetime as we become softer as a people. who cares what the people say about us. as you say people are fucking dumb asses so why would i care what 3rd world asswipes say or europe for that matter. didn't your mommy ever teach don't worry about what others say about you. we need oil so we are getting it. thats why we are in iraq
you should love the high prices of oil because people are now changing their car buying habbits. in al gores book life in the balance he said gas prices need to be higher in order to change our habbits. global warming is caused by cars according to scientists. cars are the biggest causes at least for asthma i n children. high prices at the pump are good for the environment |

I've heard a lot of people asking that.
Don't know, but Murdoch did switch his support to Tony Blair (from the tories) when he was trying to become PM 10 years ago and has stuck with him ever since. This shows a precedent for Murdoch going with the winner. |

McCain's biggest percieved strength is his military history is it not? Its surprising that they're going after it but if it is exagerrated then people should know.
The other thing is McCain's people brought this on themselves due to this ridiculous "i turned down becoming an admiral so i could become a politician" bullshit story. Its bullshit and everyone knows it - the NY Times story is contradicted by McCain's own biography.
If he's gonna start lying at this point about shit like that he deserves some kind of smack down. |

Or he's adjusted them as information is gained?
Either way, I'm not gonna argue that point. If you want to know Obama's specific ideas, go to his website. It's all there.
But, we DO know what McCain's foreign policies are: the same failing policies of GWB.
We can't survive more of the same.
Even if Obama is a total unknown like the Right is hoping to paint him, that is still better than a KNOWN loser like McCain. |

Don't get me wrong Obama is without a doubt the better candidate but his policy on the Middle East is his major issue for me... he just isn't proving exactly how he'd do things that much differently. Not only that he is pandering to Israel and using more confrontational language regarding Iran. Its just sad to see him capitulating at this point...
Saying this, he is still miles ahead of McCain in terms of credibility. (i don't have to agree with everything he does do i?)
