I completely agree with Howard's negative comments over the years about Sharpton.

Would he have the guts to keep racketeers and kooks out of the White House or would he bow to pressure?

Yes. He's a liberal.

I'm sure they have met already. Obama will meet with every single asshole who "represents" blacks, because majority of blacks are voting for Obama, black voters are one of his largest constitutents.

Anyone who thinks that Obama is different from all the rest has their head up their ass. Obama is more of a politician than Hillary and McCain combined, just look at the facts: the dude got elected to state senator because his competition dropped out and after being in office for only 2 years he is already moving on. Idiotic, ignorant post.
www.fightthesmears.com All nonsense you hear on Fox Noise. Attempt to learn the truth before you pass judgement. What does Obama have to do with the recent, CONSTITUTIONAL, Supreme Court decision? Not a goddamn thing, and the Supremes were following the CONSTITUTION. If you know anything about those "Guantanamo fucks" you would know that 90% of them are not even supposed to be locked up. The guys in charge of it just said so. Get informed. President Obama will certainly look for judges who will follow the Constitution, just like Bush appointees just did. Thats the theme: OBAMA IS SCARY SCARY SCARY, be AFRAID, its all Karl Rove propaganda and nothing else. Rove will probably be prosecuted before the election is even here.

Isn't it funny how no one points out that we currently have a BLACK WOMAN REPRESENTING OUR COUNTRY??? A black woman is the biggest minority, a woman and black, and she has arguably the most important job next to pres, she is responsible for foreign policy.

Here is what secretary of state does, from Wikipedia:
"In the United States federal government, Secretary of State has the unique meaning of the official responsible for foreign policy" "The U.S. Secretary of State is head of the United States Department of State. In the presidential line of succession the Secretary of State is the highest-ranking member of the Cabinet and fourth overall"

Do some research, it will take probably 1 minute to find it online, so you don't sound so incredibly ignorant. You will be surprised how many Senators have a much more liberal voting record. Get informed, this entire thread is full of ignorance and fear mongering, brought to you by the sic fuck mind of McCains chief adviser, soon to be arrested Karl Rove.

No one is scared of "The Black Man."

Plenty of people are scared, and with good reason, of a snake oil salesman like Obama considering he's married to a blatant racist and his clear ties to hate-mongering preachers.

Colin Powell?

Condoleezza Rice?

There are a couple examples of who black people should be exalting, instead of pieces of shit like Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson.

McCain's plan for Iraq is the best plan.

You do know that if we just hightail it out of Iraq, either Iran or al-Qaeda will take that place over within 3 years, correct? It was a mistake to go there, but abandoning that country now would be a grave error.

i think in real life u could be good friends with me, as we both share a love for the les paul.

also my gf voted for bush, so ppl can be good friends, and not mirror political beliefs.

FYI: I don't think of myself as a Republican these days, unfortunately. I consider myself more Libertarian than anything else (what the Republican party USED to stand for). Rudy was the candidate that I really wanted. Liberal on the social issues (which I loved).

It's a damn shame that the Republican party has become so beholden to the religious fuckheads in this country, however, the choice is still easy for me when forced to choose between the lesser of two evils presented in a McCain versus Obama match-up.

Great points.
FWIW, Les Paul is one of my favorite guitarists of all time. He's probably the greatest innovator in terms of modern recording and playing.
His recordings with Mary Ford stand the test of time. Classic. Redefined jazz guitar.

As for politics, I take a more moderate stance, which essentially rules Obama out but leaves the door open for McCain...though i could be swayed by their performances in the debates.

i think obama knows about this perception, and he will go out of his way not to help them, cause hes aware of the backlash.

Highly doubtful. First, he won;t be the Mayor of Chicago, or the like. He will be POTUS and a bit more busy than having to meet with these charlatans.

Second, meeting with them will do little politically. He will already have huge support with the black community. Jackson and Sharpton will not help increase support. All meeting with them can do is rile up the white community, and really rile it up.

Makes bad political sense, and call him what you will his seems to have a good political instinct and pretty good advisors.

Although I am viciously anti Bush, which administration represented more "minorities"? In Bush's administration we have a black woman as our foreign secretary, we had a black man in that role before, we had a hispanic as attorney general. Let's make one thing clear. Sharpton and Jackson don't "represent" black ppl. They represent themselves. They weren't elected by anybody for anything. They're just celebrities, like Paris Hilton, famous(or infamous) for things that happened decades ago. The media, which give these guys a platform, are responsible for keeping them famous. They have no actual relevance or power, much like most of Howard's regular guests. The black community is a rudderless ship.

Not necessarily. Casual associations, especially incidental photo ops, mean nothing to Democrats. Recall the time Joe Lieberman hugged President Bush: Democrats understood it for what it was -- one politician greeting the other.

True, the subsequent assault on Lieberman by his own party led to him being thrown out of his party, but Obama's affiliation with Sharpton and Jackson, as evidenced by these pics, does not mean his loyalties and interests lay with them over the people he is elected to represent. Such 'guilt by association' pairings are reserved strictly for madmen like Joe Leiberman and even more appropriately Presidents who are photographed strolling with Saudi kings, in which case they are clearly plotting treason.

Uh, isn't our government SUPPOSED to follow what the people want? Of the people, by the people kinda thing?

Half the problem with this country is that our government does NOT do what the people want or what's best for the people, they do what's best for their own pocketbooks, which means bowing to coorporate pressure via donations. This country is ruled by cooporations not our government. If this was a country for it's people we wouldn't have 4 dollar gas while oil companies show record profits.

Fuck both obama and mccain, country is still going to be shit with either one. With Mccain we get another 4 years of bush policy, with obama we get some guy who barely has any experience at all who's entire campaign is based around one word "change", he keeps saying change change change change. What change is he talking about? I've yet to hear him actually say wtf change is other than having a black man in office who claims he isnt black, who's part of a radical church and who has a muslim sounding name.

Im kind of hoping that if Obama gets elected president, Sharpton and Jesse Jackson Sr. are out of a job.

If you would've elected the 2000 McCain, he would have governed like the 2008 McCain.
There's not an honest or passionate bone in his body.
He lets himself be led around like a pathetic little lapdog. The RNC is every bit as much McCain's masters as his VC captors were.

I liked the 2000 McCain

What is Obama's position on reparations? Obama has also stated that The Autobiography of Malcolm X and the example of Malcolm X were very important to his intellectual development and sense of identity. I wonder if Olbermann or Matthews or David Schuster will ask him about this stuff.
