| Spare me the senile quipster. Let's hear what brilliant remarks he made about the Iran-Contra Affair, the savings and loan bailout, the HUD controversy, and the EPA scandal. Let's not forget to mention the fundamentalist right bedfellows who helped elect him and rose to power in the eighties. We're paying for those glory days now. These people who try to sugarcoat Reagan make me sick. |

I understand how you're trained to worship this fool, and I wonder what exactly the quotes were when George HW Bush met Ayatollah Khomeini in Paris and made the agreement that the Iranians would keep our hostages until AFTER the election so Carter would look bad, in return for funding and weaponry??
The KEY to being a Patriot is not only revelling in the shallow victories of your country, but also having the courage to lift up the shady underbelly and acknowledge all the bugs and worms wriggling around.

His birthday should be a national holiday. Not a day off from work/school or anything (he'd be against that) but at least observed in some way. February 6th. |

Yeah and George HW Bush secretly paid off the Soviet hockey team to lose to the US in the 1980 Olympics. It all makes sense now. |

I'll give him some props. He toppled the Soviets. Admittedly, he did it by spending them into oblivion, leaving us with an incredible debt. Still, it could be argued that it was worth the cost.
I actually liked Reagan. He was honest and sincere. At times, he held fast to outdated old school ideals but, at least, I believed he meant well.
The downside of Reagan was that he toppled the unions and drastically lowered wages for many workers. That is one of the negatives that we are still paying for.
When all was said and done, however, he was the last guy to give respectability to the Republican Party.
That brings us to Barack Obama. He is the guy who will bring respectability to the Democrats. By all indications, he's smarter than Reagan but just as passionate about helping the Country. I predict a great Administration under President Obama. |

I'll say this: If he wins, then I sincerely hope you're right. I am not one of those that will be hoping he fails or fucks up, and there will be those who do (just like there are hoping for bad news for Bush, even if it means bad news for America). I put America first. Based on his promises and platform, he will likely try to do things that I will be opposed to. But if he wins, and thats a big if, it is anti-American to hope he messes up. |

Good Americans can differ politically, for sure.
It may not be that big an "if," regarding Obama getting elected.
I would say he's the current favorite. There's still a lot of time before November but I'd say McCain looks to be in trouble. There's no energy in his campaign at all. |

I'd say he's the favorite but its still pretty close. He should be up by a lot more, considering. But there's a lot of time left. Hopefully McCain can get it going.
I might be heading to Puerto Penasco this weekend so I'll wave your direction as I pass through (even though the closest I'll get is probably 150 miles). Here's to life! |

Yeah, Sandy Beach/Playa Bonita is the place to be. We're at the Las Palomas. By this time tomorrow, I'll be enjoying a cervesa on the beach or a margarita in the cantina! |

The numbers are where they should be, considering McCain himself. The man is a media darling, and they have been covering for his numerous gaffe's and missteps and mistakes.
As we get closer to the election, and a few head to head matchups like debates and other forums happen, the stark difference between the 2 will be made clear.
Issue #1 will be Iraq, and McCain will as usual whip out the talking point about "victory", to which Obama will respond "what victory?, what are you talking about?". Our very presence IS the Problem in Iraq. Right there Obama will cinch the Presidency.
You're right about the anti-American sentiment. For years many of us on the Left bit our tongue and hoped for Bush's success. However, what Bush has done is completely butt fuck the country. It's no longer about Parties, but about America vs. Bush. ANY patriot who's aware of what's actually happening would condemn Bush and be in favor of impeachement of the lot of them. |
