Report: Brady expected to miss season - Click HERE to go to the original thread with graphics

Yahoo Sports' Michael Silver says Tom Brady is expected to miss the rest of the season with ligament damage in his knee.

Two sources tell Silver that Brady has a "severe" knee injury that "could" include a torn ACL and perhaps other ligament and cartilage damage. "It’s bad," a team source said told Silver. "We’re going to have to play without him." Silver is one of the best NFL reporters alive, and you have to trust him here. Obviously, it's devastating news for the entire Patriots offense. Sep. 7 - 7:15 pm et

So, first the Jet's say (pray) it's an ACL tear. Then Silver says he heres from a team source it's an ACL tear.

When was the last time any real info about an injured Patriots player leaked out from that organization?

This is almost getting comical.

Can you tell if an ACL is torn from an X-Ray? Because Brady is supposed to get an MRI tomorrow.

The Boston Globe has yet to report anything regarding an ACL tear.

You can tell a tear by the amount of "Looseness" the tibia has when being pushed back away from the knee cap. The MRI will show the severity

Jay Glazier leads me to believe that Brady may be out for the year. This kinda reminds me of when Drew Bledsoe went down and Tom Brady got his time to shine. Get after it Cassell.

NBC's Al Michaels said on Sunday Night Football that free agent Chris Simms will work out for the Patriots on Monday.

If you were still holding out hope that Tom Brady might be O.K., here's another strong indication he isn't. Simms has never played in an offense like the Pats' and would likely take several weeks to be game-ready if he signed.

Has Simms even taken a snap since the Panthers ruptured his spleen a few years ago?

Well this will surely level the playing field in the AFC East a bit. Cassel has been in this system for 4 years now. The Pats have to go back to the nice and simple short passing offense that they played in Brady's first season 2001-02.

Yep, old school, grind it out, win it by 3 with a FG with 5 seconds left, kind of football. :D

THey're not signing Simms to start him. He'd be backup and fill the 3rd QB spot.

If nothing else, it's due diligence to take a look and see if he can work the offense since he is out there.
The_Manipulator
I think the last of the New England bandwagonjumpers will finally shut up now. You know the ones who had no clue who the head coach was before Bill, and had no clue how many superbowls their "favorite" franchise played in. I'm laughing my ass off now. No more than ten wins and a realistic picture of seven wins comes to mind.

I hope all the bandwagon fans start jumping. It will be alot easier for a die-hard fan who had to wear the old Patriots shirts to school when they were going 1-15 to get tickets. But as for everyone who thinks that the Pats season is over, the same thing happened in 2001 when our franchise QB went down. The backup came in and led the Patriots to where they are now. The year we have more offensive weapons then in 01 though. Im not saying Cassel will take the Pats to the Super Bowl, but the playoff are still within reach.

How many Super Bowls and MVPs did Drew win before fucking Mo Lewis almost ended his life with one of the most deversating sideline hits ever? Can't compare the two sonny

Fucking Mo Lewis, if he never hit Drew, none of us would be even talking about the Pats....

NFL Network's Adam Schefter reports that in addition to a torn ACL, Tom Brady may have damaged his MCL in Sunday's game.

This aligns with a Yahoo report that Brady has ligament damage aside from just the ACL. MCL damage can cause additional swelling that delays surgery, and ultimately recovery time. The Pats may opt to have Brady's knee reconstructed as soon as possible, expediting his placement on I.R.
ChronoSkooma17
This really does kind of suck for football fans, even if you hate him. Winning the AFC east now is like winning while Tiger Woods is out or during Michael Jordan's first retirement, it's very asterisk worthy (for more reasons than one) :D

Well Drew led them to a Super Bowl, and actually when Brady went down in the AFC Championship game in 2001-02, Bledsoe came off the bench and led the Pats back to the Super Bowl. Look at Bledsoe's numbers over his career. They match up pretty good with Brady's minus the Super Bowl Titles and MVPs.

Bledsoe was a damn fine QB. But what is a team going to do when they unexpectedly wind up with two high caliber QB's on the roster? You get rid of the guy you didn't draft. Such is the nature of the business.

Many QB's have had the same or better stats then Brady over the years, none have the rings and awards he has............HUGE difference.........
