I wasn't sure if this needed it's own thread but since Yankee fans are so obsessed with the Red Sox these days, I thought they would appreciate it. It has to be just as important as the "John Henry gets Hush Hush Divorce" or this epic thread, http://www.sternfannetwork.com/foru...15&pagenumber=1
Red Sox general manager Theo Epstein has agreed to a contract extending beyond this season, but the deal has not yet been formalized or signed, according to owner John Henry.
‘‘We are all on the same page with regard to our vision for the organization," Henry wrote in an e-mail this afternoon. "The negotiations were pleasant and were all about rewarding Theo for the great, great job he has done in bringing two world championships to the Red Sox. We look forward to the difficult task of trying to win a third."
Henry clarified in a later e-mail that while the main negotiations were complete and "lawyers are handling the details," the sides haven't settled all matters.
Terms for his new deal are unknown.
Epstein, who was raised in Brookline, was named the Red Sox general manager on Nov. 25, 2002. Then 28, he was the youngest GM in baseball history at the time.
In his first season, the franchise fell one victory shy of a World Series berth. The next year, the Red Sox won it all for the first time since 1918, and made the postseason for the third straight year in 2005.
But shortly after the '05 season ended, Epstein resigned from the Red Sox due to philosophical differences with president/chief executive officer Larry Lucchino. He returned to the team a few months later, signing a three-year deal which was to expire at the end of this season. |

It was kind of a joke Petey. Relax...you Yankee fans are so uptight these days.
Would it more appropriate if I started a "Hey Yankee Fans:Go Fuck Yourselves-Red Sox are back and ITS OVER FOR YOU!!!!!!!!!! (http://www.sternfannetwork.com/foru...15&pagenumber=1 )" like some moron did in your fan base? |

Theo is great, no matter what you Yankee haters think. He does something that Cashman doesn't ... sign old players who are past their prime. That is New York's problem, it is pretty obvious.
Theo has made so many good moves over the last several years. Trade for the most clutch pitcher in the postseason in recent history (Beckett) ... oh and we'll take Mike Lowell too (2007 World Series MVP) as a throw in. Improving the scouting department and getting guys like Lester, Pedroia (who expects that from a 5'8 2B) and Ellsbury. |

Actually, he is just a stupid cunt. Fact is, Theo quit the Red Sox. Fact is, Sox only gave Theo an extension for fear that he would replace Cashman. Fact is, the Sox gave their GM an extension for losing in the first round this year. |

you use the term "century" to mean 2000-2100... ok...
but that's not the way to use it, I understand you are trying to make it sound greater, I get it. |

There is no doubt he has been the best GM in baseball on the biggest stage in the world for the past 12 years. |

I'm not even going to try and prove that.
The fact is... teams have an opening.. Cashman is open...
they want him. bottom line.
no matter what you think of what he really did or anything else.
it's just the fact of the matter. |

I agree, but will anything compare to the Yanks?
Where do you see him going if he leaves? |

| Bottom line is that Theo has done a fantastic job from top to bottom with that Red Sox organization. The Sox have become a brand name under Theo. Their minor league system has never produced as much talent as they have presently. The major league club has won two of the last four titles and is a serious contender for this years as well. Theo could probably name his price. |

I must have missed it.
Thanks for all the news Petey, keep up the good work and informative threads.
edit - Whites, there's a HUGE difference when I defend the Yankees vs. you defending the Red Sox, if you can't see that you're a lil slow.
edit 2 - I wasn't defending him based on his Yankee thread, I was defending him based on ALL his sports threads. WTF is your problem Whites? You want a stagnant forum with nobody posting? Get a clue. |

A lil slow? We are talking about defending the FANS not the team itself. I never ripped you for defending the Yankees. I ripped you for defending guys like Nuge and Petey just because they are Yankees fans. I think you need to get a clue.
There is plenty of posting without the need of making threads that have been on ESPN.com for 24,48 or even 72 hrs. If it was that important, somebody else would have made a thread. |

That's even worse!! I call you the Boston ballwasher b/c of your defense and now you're admitting it as part of your argument? Jesus Christ.
I don't defend nuge, I defend Petey when 8 assholes (usually Sox fans) flame his news threads.
I can't tell you how many times it's the first time I've read the story. I don't check ESPN.com for my news, there's too much flash video and advertisements.
"If it was that important, somebody else would have made a thread. "
Stop trying to be the thread police, if all you guys do is flame people to not start threads, then you're wrong about this anyway b/c nobody will want to.
Stop washing balls, you self admitted nutlicker. :o |

Well I respect your defending Petey. I am a Petey fan so I have no problems with that. If you notice I did not start a thread telling Petey to stop, I just made a comment in an exisiting thread. Which is what this forum and website is all about. I think we would agree on that!
You might not defend Nuge, but you also never call him out also. Even when he is just spewing his bullshit. You have no problem calling me out, but would NEVER call out a Yankee fan. That was and is my point. :hw: |

Understood.
If you remember, when nuge started the It's Over Yankee Fans thread, my comment was You're a disgrace to the pinstripes nuge... That was somebody's signature for a year on here. It's not my duty to call out nuge or anybody. Maybe I don't call him out as often as the rest of the board (every day) but that's b/c I don't read everything he posts, I'm not looking for him like many people are.
I don't "call (you) out," I think your posts are comment worthy b/c you're informed, sometimes I agree, and sometimes we disagree. |
