I know we have a lot of people from NY here. Both stadiums are closing down. Post your favorite moments or first time memories on games that you went to.

My first Mets game was around 1980 or 81. The Mets were down by 2 to the Pirates in the 9th and Steve Henderson hit a 2 run homerun to win it.

I am not a Mets fan, but as a child I went to opening day. I think it was 1983 and Tom Seaver came back to the Mets. The Mets won 2-1 over Philly.

My first game at Yankee Stadium was my favorite Yankee, Ron Guidry on the mount vs Richard Dotson of the Whitesox. The Yanks lost 4-1. I was so young and in denial that Guidry lost.

The last time I went to Yankee Stadium was about 6 years ago. Bernie Williams had a clutch hit in the 8th to beat the Tigers.

Post your first and memorable moments that you seen in person at these parks.

Try not to make this a Yankee Stadium vs Shea Stadium thread.

I did get mugged at Shea as a 12 year-old on a field trip with my local Boys Club. Freaking 7 brothers took my dollar and my friend's Met helmet, fuck the helmet.

I also remember freezing my ass off watching the Jets a few times and I recall Shea was fucking moving when the crowd went nuts. Otherwise, it was a shit hole.

I did see Doc pitch his gem at Yankee Stadium, seen several Yankee playoff wins, sat in a suite, threw beer on Kenny Rogers out in left field and I was at the first game at Yankee Stadium after 9/11, just to name a few.

Outside of NYC, nobody cares about the closing of Yankee and Shea Stadium.

Back in those days at Shea, a dollar would get you a hot dog and a soda, or a blow job from KOAW's mother in the Men's room!!

OK, so maybe a hot dog and a coke did cost more then a buck, but a hummer from KOAM's mother was in fact a dollar. In fact, in all these years, she has only raised it to $1.27!!

And to think in 2008, you still have to beg for the $1.27.

How sad you still are....

Off the top of my head, I remember Don Mattingly hitting that home run in game two of the 1995 playoffs, I was kind of a kid at the time (high school) and I just remembered the entire stadium felt what I felt.... an eruption of jubilance for that man's career long journey and the Yankees 15+ year plight inching closer to an end (a lifelong plight for me being it was the only thing I knew since I wasn't old enough or aware during those late 70's teams).

None of us (Yankee fans) had much to cheer for other than this man's successes, and finally we got to cheer for both him and the team, while he put that team on his back @ home. It was like nobody had ever seen or expected us to win, it was like that home run was a game ending, game seven walk off in the world series.

People were hugging, screaming, throwing shit, walking 10 rows up and down aisles to give high fives... it was contagious and it was one of the greatest feelings I'll never forget.

Well I guess someone cared. There was wall to wall coverage of Yankee Stadium on ESPN and ESPN2. I don't expect that for Shea Stadium, but last night was a pretty big deal. I am not saying the ratings were great for the baseball game because the NFL is on a whole new level according to most US fans.
