I caught a little bit of the show yesterday but did I dream this...Bubba has signed and is on board for another 2 years? If so that fuckin fantastic

No it was a bit, no new deal :(
Chob
No, he was talking hypothetically. They have until the end of this month to work something out before he starts talking to stations about syndication.

And don't expect anything longer than a year for the next Sirius deal. There's two more years left on the Cox contract.
Misskitty
I say they won't pay him.
PowerPigYello
Bubba will not re-sign. Mel K. can wear his Bubba Army shirt all he wants, he wont get another dime from Sirius.

At this point money is less of an issue if they let the FM show expand. Because he'll get paid for syndication and bring more people to Bubba Raw with the FM show archives. I say the biggest issue is that he wants an earlier time slot.

so if the time slot is what's holding up the deal, I see it as a non-issue other than re-arranging a replay schedule. so why the fuck isn't it getting done? it sounds like the syndication deal is expanding countrywide. and to be truthful, if he comes to the Philly market, I can see myself listening to his AM show primarily and Howard's show second. I can't believe I ever thought there would be a day when Howard was second in my mind to any other show (shows how far his show has dropped) in my opinion.

how does the am show compare to the pm show as far as crossover content?

That's the way I feel now, however relying on an internet stream limits how much I can listen. There's not a lot of crossover in terms of what they talk about. However there are a few stunts and guests that get repeated.

money is less of an issue? mad dog gets 15 mill and bubba getting peanuts. if he is syndicated in more markets, that gives him greater exposure to bring regular radio listeners to sirius/xm to hear an uncensored show. Bubba is going to want more money regardless of syndication on fm.

AM show is very local. Local topics, local guests, local issues. I dont like it nearly as much as the Sirius show.

If they go into syndication and the Sirius show is gone I would expect it to deal with local shit much less.

I guess Sirius must want Bubba for that drive home slot from 3-7. It would fuck up the West Coast feed though if they did the show from like 10-2. Are they going to be willing to continue doing two shows?

That's the plan.

They better re-sign him..His shows are the best...

Does anyone think that maybe there is a good reason for not promoting the shit out of Bubba. The guys that run this company arent complete idiots. If they really thought Bubba could bring in subscribers and make the company money, they would re-up him. Im a Bubba fan, but I cant help but think there might be an accounting reason we just arent seeing that shows that he isnt that valuable to people who arent yet subscribers. For instance, I found Bubba through Sirius. Before that, no idea who he was. If I wasnt a subscriber and you told me to subscribe because he was on Sirius, I wouldnt give two shits and that would be no reason to subscribe. The problem is that 99.9% of non-sirius subscribers have no idea who BTLS is. Madog they know, Martha Stewart they know, Jamie Foxx they know. Its not a matter of quality, its a matter of outside the Sirius world exposure.

Mad Dog was local. I never heard of him before he signed here. The real question is who else is there to sign. There isnt anyone that would be better than Bubba on Howard 101. If Bubba leaves, I hope Howard doesnt get rid of 101. He said he would if that were to happen. That should be enough leverage to have Sirius sign Bubba until Howard retires

Once upon a time, Howard did mention about a third channel. Why not put Bubba on there 10-2, Spice Boy wrap-up show at 2, then replay the whole mcguillicutty from 3 PM to 8 PM?

Howard 99/102 (AKA "Bubba channel.")

10 AM - Bubba Live
2 PM - Spice Boy Wrap-Up
3 PM - Bubba Re-Air
8 PM - Howard show Re-Air for prime-time??
2 AM - Bubba re-air (include wrap-up show??)

The 6 AM - 10 AM hours would be the tricky ones. Maybe they could work out a deal with COX to simulcast? Of course, i'm sure 0.0 would have a field day with that, but WGAS about them?

Maybe they'd re-air some of the "special shows" during that time slot?

They probably wouldn't want anything big, as that would conflict with Howard's live show, though.

Maybe they could work out a system where you'd be listening to Howard, but whenever Eric from Hoboken, ETM, Ralph, or Dominic would call in, they'd press a button and music would play.

Would he really get rid of it?

What about the West Coast feed? Special shows? Ferrall?

If Sirius doesn't re-sign Bubba it would be a MAJOR mistake. He's the best thing on radio outside of Howard, and the fact of the matter is that at this point many Sirius subscribers think Bubba's show is better than Howard's (myself included). After blowing big money on an NYC sports guy nobody gives a shit about, if they don't pay Bubba it'll piss a lot of people off. Bubba has an intense fan base who would not be happy at such a turn of events. Bubba loves Howard and would stay on Sirius as long as he's not being raped out of money. Lose the high-priced Manhattan studios and PAY BUBBA HIS FUCKING MONEY!!

Sad to say but Bubba and crew are better off without SIRI. They are getting more popular again and getting syndication. Syndication=good money. Sirius=headaches and small money. BTLS and the guys are in a good position to clean up where Howard left off int he FM market.

that is the hard truth!

i like listening to bubba, in the morning, the howard replay, until bubba's live at 3.

I don't think bubba will resign. They always complain about how long their day is. maybe a 2hr show???

Provided they don't drop a fine on them and get fired. It does sound like on the AM deal, they run their show through a board with a delay at COX and they have an OP there that can hit the kill switch if BRN misses it. It does sound like they're intent on not burning bridges if they do leave.
lolligag
Bubbas show has been UNBELIEVABLE lately!!!It seems like the crew is laid back and having more fun!Listening to both shows, it seems that they are really letting it fly in the PM.I bet the new deal, with an earlier time is close..

No way. Without Sirius, no Bubbapalooza shows and merch would go way down. They will be fine either way but Sirius needs to keep the guys on
dflashman56
I have had sirius for 2 years and love Bubba to death. I drove down to Daytona and caught about 1.5 hours of Bubba show on the fm side of things. Very Vanilla it bring his commentary and way about him closer to everyone else. The fact he can gets mad and swears(like real people do) makes him more of a guys guy. I knew of him from my brother but had no idea he was so damn funny and out there. The deal with russo is the precident bubba will not sign with them unless they get around the same deal as russo does period.

I'm pretty sure they could still do live events...esp. if they get syndicated. I think people would still come out - if not even more than now. They'd be censored but its better than nothing.

Bubba's The Man!!!

From what it sounded like today, the Bubbapaloozas are contingent on staying on satellite. Notice Bubba said that his agent was awaiting a phone call. That makes it sound like they are not even talking to him about anything now.

Funny, I've often thought it would be great if they would do what Bubba does with the Price is Right thing when Eric from Hoboken or Ralph call in. I never liked Dominic until the boat incident. "I'M ON FIYAH, THE BOAT IS ON FIYAH. MAY DAY MAY DAY"

I would like a couple more years of Bubba. A hell of a lot better investment than Oprah & friends.
