From AdAge - the first ones to report on it:
MEL KARMAZIN NAMED CEO OF SIRIUS RADIO
Former Viacom President to Join Howard Stern
November 18, 2004

By Claire Atkinson and Matthew Creamer
NEW YORK (AdAge.com) -- Mel Karmazin is joining Sirius Satellite Radio as CEO, according to executives familiar with the matter.
Photo: AP
Mel Karmazin, former president and COO of Viacom, will become the CEO of Sirius Radio.
Mr. Karmazin, the former Viacom chief operating officer and president of Viacom, exited the company in May and said last week at a radio conference in Portugal that his future involved either linking with an investment company or joining a high-growth company or remain doing nothing. Mr. Karmazin did not respond to an e-mail request for comment.
Mr. Karmazin's name has been floated in connection with Sirius ever since the company signed radio personality Howard Stern to a five-year, $500 million deal. Mssers. Stern and Karmazin have long worked closely together. Mr. Stern is currently tied to his contract to Viacom's Infinity Radio. |

| I wonder if Opie and Anthony have hung themselves yet. I went to their site just to read some of the shit people were writing , and even their die hard fans are now saying how bad XM fucked up. Some of them are seriously pissed about the fact that O&A didnt do a little promotional give away. |
|
|
| MC900footjesus |
what a grand scheme....The press release was obviously released right at the moment that Stern was taping Letterman.
I assume that Stern signed with Sirius months ago knowing that things were going in this direction. There was probably a clause in his contract calling for Karmazin to become CEO within a few months of signing the contract...
Greatness...the stock is up 1 dollar in after hours... |

It's War: XM Radio crashes Stern / Sirius Rally
| Quote: XM Satellite Radio and the O&A Army were at the Stern / Sirius Rally in full force armed with XM Satellite Radio protest signs, O&A 'WOW' stickers, t-shirts, hats and the Opie & Anthony/XM Radio van. Met with cheers and boos from the crowd, the O&A Army had a massive presence all day in Union Square and managed to steal at least some of the attention from Howard's show. |

i would like to point out one thing from that quote...

I bought 1000 sh. Siruis SIRI stock 4 weeks ago at 3.53.
This is what I call a bottom feeder. Cheap stock. Long shot. Let it sit and hopefully it grows big.
The past 2 days have been insane!
Today's news is GREAT. Yesterday's news of SIRIUS becoming available at TARGET stores was great.
The stock is up $1.02 in after hours trading at $5.74 and is in-play.
It will open for sure tomorrow at a 52 week high.
I expect this stock to be a $50 bad boy by 2008.
Thanks for the free cash HOWARD!! |

| The other funny thing about that article on Foundry Music is that they link to orbitcast.com b/c it was the lead story but that has already changed to a story about Mel & Sirius... |

If you read some of the shit on whackbag their fans are even saying it was a bullshit weak attempt at trying to make a presence. Im sitting here just checking out all the threads over their and slowly watching people blow up at each other. You dont have to sign up to read the threads , I didnt. Go check it out. Its fucking hillarious. And such a slap in the face to those two dipshits , their owns fans are starting to revolt on the site. |

The Board of Directors of SIRIUS Satellite Radio has named Mel Karmazin as Chief Executive Officer. He succeeds Joseph P. Clayton, who will remain at SIRIUS as Chairman of the Board of Directors and said, "I am very confident that Mel will accelerate the very positive momentum that we have established at SIRIUS in the past two years. Our recent announcement of the signing of Howard Stern, our exclusive relationship with the National Football League and the partnerships with automakers such as DaimlerChrysler, Ford and BMW are all indications that satellite radio has a central role in the future of broadcast media. We fully expect to achieve the subscriber projections we have given to Wall Street for this year."

This is a great day. First the massive giveaway which will probably increase Sirius subscription almost immediately and then this news about Mel Karmazin this a is huge blow to free radio and XM. And then tonight I can't wait to hear what Howard says on Letterman. I hope Howard caps off the night with something huge.
And I can't wait to hear what Howard says tommarrow about Mel Karmazin joining his team. Maybe he'll announce tonight that he is leaving early. Even though it probably wont happen a man can dream, cant he? |

This really adds validation to Howard that he truely made the right decision.
Great day for Stern fans. Sirius now has a CEO who has ALWAYS backed Stern in thick and thin. :boobies: |

From the CBS Report...what is the purpose of this statement:
| Quote: Viacom is a significant investor in CBS MarketWatch, the publisher of this report. |
Are they trying to show that they are reporting all the news, even if it affects them adversely? |
