Shit! I proposed that idea on the old stern bb a few months ago. I am sure someone else thought of it before me, however.

I would buy it for sure assuming that the reception quality was good enough.

Apple shot this down just recently. If it was going to happen they would have announced it this past week at CES.

SIRIUS Satellite Radio Creates 'Star Mate'

Palm Sized Satellite Radio Available at Retail This Month

NEW YORK and LAS VEGAS, NV - January 5, 2004 - SIRIUS Satellite Radio today announced at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas that its smallest "Plug & Play" satellite radio - Star Mate - will be available at retail stores beginning this month.

Star Mate, which is about the size of a deck of cards, is a transportable "Plug & Play" unit that can be used in vehicles, boats and homes, and provides access to SIRIUS' 65 channels of 100% commercial-free music as well as over 55 channels of news, sports, weather, traffic information, original entertainment and call-in talk shows.

Featuring a three-line full display, the six-ounce Star Mate has 30 presets and a built-in wireless FM transmitter with 100 frequencies. The Star Mate, including both home and vehicle adapter kits, is expected to retail for just $129.95.

"The small, lightweight and affordable Star Mate provides yet another ideal way for subscribers to access SIRIUS' innovative programming, whether it's in the car, truck, boat, RV or at home," said Larry Pesce, Senior Vice President of Product Management and Strategic Planning for SIRIUS. "This is the smallest transportable SIRIUS satellite radio unit to date, and we believe it will be very popular with consumers."

SIRIUS Satellite Radio to Add Replay to Sportster Receiver

NEW YORK and LAS VEGAS, Jan 06, 2005 -- SIRIUS Satellite Radio today announced at the Consumer Electronics Show that it will add an instant replay feature to its number #1 selling transportable "Plug & Play" radio - the Sportster.

The redesigned Sportster IR will be capable of recording up to 44 minutes of programming simultaneously while a subscriber is listening to SIRIUS, enabling the listener to pause the unit, to take a phone call for example, and return to where the programming left off.

"The popularity of the Sportster makes it the ideal SIRIUS "Plug & Play" to introduce this exciting new feature," said Larry Pesce, Senior Vice President of Product Management and Strategic Planning for SIRIUS. "We believe that subscribers will appreciate, and utilize, this new capability in order to not miss out on their favorite programming, no matter what the interruption."

The new Sportster IR will utilize a simple 3-button feature to pause, jump forward and jump back, and will also include a built-in FM modulator that permits wireless connectivity to any vehicle radio over as many as 100 unused channels.

Incorporating a new, sleek design, the Sportster IR is compatible with existing SIRIUS Sportster boom boxes, car and home kits. SIRIUS expects that the new unit will begin shipping to retail stores in the middle of this year. Pricing will be announced at a later date.
