All Madden, all the time
This is a low point in video game history. One thing that has made video games so great (especially sports games) is competition.
Finally we as a public are given a great choice every year between ESPN NFL 2k and Madden NFL. ESPN in my opinion has been able to provide the most unique enhancements on a year to year basis, and better graphics, where as Madden can just shell out the same game with new rosters and shinnier players (which still look lunch a bunch of cartoons).
Anyways when ESPN finally adds some heat, where it forces EA to drop all titles to $30 a game, they go out and cut ESPN completely from the playing field, a monopoly in a country where monopolies should not exist.
Regardless of what game you are a fan of, this is bad news for all of us. For some, their beloved series has come to an abrupt end, and for others, what motiviation does EA have now to update their game from year to year?
Please, every go and sign the following petition. It most likely will not change much, but it will show that we are not pleased.

| That fucking sucks. I like the ESPN football game better because I don't have to endure Madden's annoying commentary. Boo!!!! |

| EA always does this kind of shit, they're creating a monopoly with sports games.Nascar and now the NFL. |

The ESPN titles were well received ... this is a setback for everyone involved. 20 dollars worth of games is going back to a 50 buck price tag now. Stop buying the new games, that'll have more impact than a petition.
ps ... Im beta testing a new shooter for ps2, Project:Snowblind. It's basically HALO for ps2 but it's pretty cool. Check it out in Feb. |

| Sega's ESPN games have been getting better reviews than Madden this year.EA probably felt threatened. |

| Don't they understand that competition brings the best out of everyone.. With no competition they can put a shit game together and people won't have an option to buy something else. |

I will say I'm one of those "Madden or death" guys. I'm narrow-minded and won't branch out because I'm used to Madden and I enjoy it. However, I think it's bad that this happened because like the guy ahead of me said, competition does fuel them to make better games.
Although I am interested to see if they do anything with all the new stuff they're getting, like access to the NFL films archives. |

Next 5 maddens will all be the same except for the title.
I don't play EA's NFL game, but I do play their NBA one.. I hope they don't do this for the NBA too because I just switched from EA to ESPN and ESPN is so much better (especially for online leagues). If any good comes from this maybe SEGA will focus on the NBA one even more so that they just kick the crap out of EA on it.
EA is evil, but I bet the stock is going up nicely. |

Do these petitions every actually work? |

| Also, you shouldn't really put all the blame on EA Sports. The NFL agreed to this deal. The NFL is as much or more responsible for this deal happening like this. |

| Who cares, they can make the next 5 games the same as madden 05, and i'd still buy it. Madden is the best game and that's that. |

| The games are ultimately going to suck now. It's the competition between gamemakers that creates the technological innovations. If there is no competition, why should EA bother trying to advance the quality of graphics, gameplay, etc.? |

This year's ESPN game was miles ahead of Madden - if you like to play a realistic game. If you like to do the same play over and over again and beat your opponent 50-7 every game, then Madden is the better game.
I'm just holding out hope that ESPN just tries to release a game with generic player and team names, although it will probably will get destroyed in sales. |

| I long for the days of NFL Gameday on PSX, the first game where you could truly run the ball in the game. |

ESPN is not making the game... Sega is.
And why in the world would you want this? Even if EA is your favorite company in the world, don't you understand what competition is and what it does for products? A true gaming fan would want the most competition... that way the game makers are forced to make the most innovative games possible in order to beat their competitors and the people who benefit from that are the consumers (us). |

maybe you like EA better than sega so you don't see what the big deal is...but if sega continued to improve, they might eventually be better than madden. not to mention that this completely shuts off any other companies from attempting to contribute to the genre.
why wouldn't you want the competition, even if you only buy madden right now? it's only a good thing. |

good points about the competition.
there's nooo way sega can produce a game, without names, versus an EA game with names...
espn was quite fun to play... |

I think they both suck. I usually play the EA sport NCAA football game it is better in my opinion.
Nothing beats the original though! |

is that the game where you could run into the right side of the screen and pop out on the left to tackle somebody?
or was that the "m network" game? |

Sega should steal Mutant League Football from EA
That game was cool. :D And that's just about all Sega can do as far as football goes. |

look even if you're a die hard madden fan, this move sucks balls. the espn franchise made a very ballsy move by lowering the price to $20, and it worked. ea in turn eventually had to lower madden to $30 to compete. both games are very high caliber, and both companies were out to try and one up each other. the end result would be amazing games for real cheap. now, ea can stick to the $50 it has year in and year out.
in short, all you idiots that are happy about this dont really see how it affects you. ea would have to lower prices to compete, so everybody wins. now, if they tread out the same game for 5 years at $50 each, who gets shafted in the end? the consumer, thats who. |

Hey retahd! They only do it cuz they got to compete against the other games, retahd. Now they can just sit back and collect the cash because football videogame fans are stuck with their game no matter how bad/good it is. No incentive. |
