Unfortunately, I watch alot of TV. While ESPNEWS is probably my favorite channel, ESPN seems to have lost its luster.
First of all:
SportsCenter, the flagship program, absolutely fucking sucks. I would take Craig Kilborn, Keith Olbermann, Kenny Mayne any day of the week. Especially now since SC is dominated by lame Stuart slanty lazy eyed Scott and Linda sucks Cohn.
Secondly:
I dont want drama programming on ESPN. I just want to watch fucking sports. I dont want Tilt, especially when it has been advertised like we're all damn chimpanzees. I dont care about the blond chick or poker or Michael Madsen's dumb smoky voice. I didnt care much for PlayMakers either.
and last of all:
SportsCenter always runs these incredibly lame stories like: will Lebron be the next MJ? Lebron, if he is lucky, will be somewhere between (not as good as) Dr J and magic johnson... definitely not the best player ever like MJ. They always have dramatic stories about guys who overcame adversity and persevered.
I JUST WANT LIVE SPORTS PROGRAMMING AND THEN SOMEWHAT WITTY COMMENTARY ON THE HIGHLIGHTS. I DONT WANT PANDERING TO THE ATHLETES FROM FORMER ATHELETS AND OTHER RELATED BULLSHIT |

| I agree with what you've stated. That lazy eyed ebonics speaking phony Stuart Scott has dumbed down that station to a new low. It's still the best thing out there, but it needs a competing channel to give it a kick in the ass. |

| ESPN is turning into MTV/VH1 with the series like TILT and all the reality shows they have. I saw on ESPN2 the other day something called "The Ten Hottest Sports Couples", uggggggggghhhhh!!!!!! |

| Another problem is they have gone overboard in hiring former atheletes both in the studio and the booth. Every damn show seems to have a fair haired stupid white balanced by a barely English speaking black. In the old days the station was dominated by sports nerds who loved a particular sport. It is now dominated by atheletes trying to hand on to a paycheck by speaking in loud cliches. |

| I agree with pretty much everything that people have said. The sad part is, it's probably only going to get worse. Sadly, there's no hockey, and football just ended, so pretty much we'll be hearing about steriods and basketball for the next few months. Ugh, I can't take espn sometimes. Over here we're supposed to be getting the NFL network, hopefully that will take espn's place for a little. And yeah, Stuart Scott needs to go. I can only take so many "boo-yahs" in a 40 second highlight. |

| Agreed. I haven't watched Sportscenter in quite some time since it was horrible. I only watch ESPN now for College Football and MLB games, that's it. |

Even worse is ESPN radio...the Dan Patrick show has really gone downhill...man that guy whines like crazy...spends a whole show on the same topic sometimes...will say how sick of a topic he is and then will talk about it for days...not to mention the constant commercials...I stopped listening pretty much the time they got rid of Dibs...The Colin Cowherd show is much better. |

Bingo! Also, these anchors are just too buddy-buddy with these athletes and deliver the highlights like fans. The shitty part is they'll show something like how Lebron James appear like he's dominated the game leading you to believe his team is running away with the win but then subtley say,"But the Cavs come up short, losing by 17." |

I could go with out the Stepen Smith pissed off/bitter/angy black man report evey time. ( unless I am thinking of Ralph Wiley, I get those guys confused.

I guess I'm a younger viewer but ESPN pisses me off with all the BS they push. Stuart Scott is an annoying guy and his lazy eye freaks me out.
Why the hell did they let Kevin Frasier go. He's got a lot more talent/potential.
And I got to agree with the other posts about the increase in former jocks trying to form coherent sentences. Everytime a non-athlete tried to argue with them about something they go to their same stupid fucking standby line "You never played the game! You don't know what it's like!"
Hey shut the fuck up jackass. I never took it up the ass but I'm pretty sure I wouldn't like that. I mean listening to Sean Salsbury(sp) is painful. At least Clayton gives some useful information from time to time.
ESPN radio is also shit at times, especially in southern California. Dan Patrick kisses way too much celebrity/athlete ass. The rest of the local shows are horrible. Mason and Ireland are hacks who can't carry a show. And Mcdonnel Douglas is a travesty. A 400 lb whale complaining about any LA sports team while his idiot co-host, a hack writer for a no name paper, giggles like a bitch.
I stopped listening to that shit altogether. Only music for me now. |
