Maybe I'm being short sighted, but it seems to me that Howard will alienate a large portion his audience by going to pay services. Unfortunately alot of people can't pay for all this. Has Howard lost touch with the working man? Is he being a bit of an alarmist by running away from pay cable? Or is all this going to change the entire industry?

It all seems risky and innovative, but there's no one better to transcend the industry. I'll be there for the ride :hw:

I don't know but that stripper in your profile is cute

Howard doesn't really have a choice but to go to Sirius, or else the show will suffer because of them chopping the show up.. I'm not rich, but I will find a way to get Satellite radio. But for the In Demand it sucks cause I have Direct TV and can't just go out an switch my service now.. The true fans of the show will just find a way to get the show..

It's the only way he can continue broadcasting on TV. It's the same deal as Sirius. It's either this or nothing.

P.S. the girl is still hot.
james_stewart
Exactly the "true fans" will find a way, but they're few and far between compared to the casual listener. I feel he will suffer from losing the casual listener that is just as happy listening to douche bags like Mancow.
SternIN504
Howard doesn't care if the casual listener doesn't join, he has said that before on the show. Something to the extent of him not caring if he does the show for 5 people. You heard on the show yesterday about them still getting fined by the FCC. The show cannot go on for much longer on regular radio. I see it as Howard has been forced to do this move.
james_stewart
Censored Howard is head and shoulders above any other garbage being passed as "entertainment radio"
mooby
Yeah, but the point is that he's a target in this medium and the FCC will continue to fine his show even when the show has passed through

1. him sanitizing his behavior
2. Dead air Dave & Tom's dump button
3. Local stations' dump button

Even with all these precautions, he can still get fined because the government decides what is indecent. So it is monetarily impossible for him to remain on regular radio / TV where they can fine him on a whim. It's all about the money. How many jobs have you worked when you don't get paid and still have to make a living?

P.S. I will not mention the girl again.

If there is anyone to point the finger at of having to pay for the entertainment we want to hear and see it's at the government and the FCC. Our freedoms, like this one, are being constantly stolen because of pressure from the minority, and no one in the majority seems to care.

Howard is doing what he has to do to just keep the show going. The bonus about it is the show will be greater than ever. And he makes a lot of money off of it. So what? Anyone here would jump at the chance for 10% of what he is making, so I can't blame him.

It's unfortunate we have to pay special for entertainment a lot more tame than what other countries see and hear on regular public mediums every day.

You the fuck not. Shit we pay for everything else, what's one more hand in your pocket?
james_stewart
I've never doubted the show needs to move and the quality of the show will improve. I just worry about the people that might be left behind because they can't pay for the service.

Just another example of how a few loudmouths can ruin everything for the silent majority. If all of Howard's fans would start a letter writing/phone campaign with as much fevor as the anti-Stern's, the politicians would have to choice but to listen
Bababong
I'm undecided about in demand. There's alot of people with DirectTV and Dish Network that aren't gonna dump it for that shitty digital cable.Plus alot of those people are in contracts.

Sirius is a fucking no brainer though. In December Howard will be in the news 24/7 cause of the mass of people buying Sirius radios and subscriptions.

Howard does need to shake his ass and get out there on the circut promoting .

I will be buying sirius next month, dont think i will be spending money for the demand show though. I love the show, but i can't be shellling out 30 bucks a month on this. This site, the stern site, and sirius is plenty for me. Who knows though, i could get sucked in, depending on how the show goes once he's over there.
Rain
ill be downloading the radio show, and tv show from the newsgroups, so i could care less where he goes

i've had sirius since february, and the only time i listen to my regular car radio is when stern is doing his show. the rest of the time, it is sirius. i love the fact that there are no commercials on the music stations, although the talk stations do have a few. having stern on there will just be a bonus.

i don't think i'll get digital cable just to get on demand though. i just don't watch that much tv, and i never stayed up late enough to catch the E! show, so i don't miss it. i know that with on demand i can watch it whenever i want to, but i don't have enough interest to watch on tv what i've already heard on the radio.

Howard mentioned today that indemand might cost about the same as a drink at a bar. I got excited till I realized his rich ass is drinking in the Hamptons at 20 bucks a drink :p

Sirius has a lifetime subscription deal. $599 is the price.
