I got the one year plan. The lifetime subscription plan is too much money to spend at once.
I got the Starmate receiver.
oldpaddy
I pre-paid for 6 months and bought this for my car:

I haven't bought anything for my house yet.
FYI- the lifetime subscription is only for the unit that it was bought for. So if the radio dies after the warranty has expired you're fucked.

I started this thread about my radio a month back:

I'm getting mine soon and I'm pretty sure about the 1 year deal. . .and I fairly sure about getting the Sportster Replay Boombox Package. . .

with the home kit so I can by a new regular radio and plug ii there so I can tape THE SHOW onto audio tapes. . .I will consider doing the mp3 deal when I figure all the new fangled shit out. . .I'm old school fuck. . .what can I say. . .

i have about 4 months left on my 1 year paid in full subscription at which time i will gladly pay for the next year.
DrewsDaddy

DO NOT GET THE LIFETIME SUBSCRIPTION!!!!!!!!!

the lifetime subscription is a complete rippoff and under no circumstances should you get it.

the lifetime subscription doens't start paying for itself until the 4th year. it's only good for one radio. if your radio dies, is stollen, or you just want to upgrade to new cooler equipment, you are get socked with a $75 transfer fee. it's essenmtially like you paying twice for 7 months. they let you do this 3 times and then you need to start over. it's not really lifetime.

with the other plans you can transfer your plan to a new radio but they hit you with a $40 charge. thats a hefty transfer fee too. essentially you pay twice for over 3 months of service.

here are the plans

month to month plan
$12.95 a month

Semi-Annual Plan - $77.70
$12.95 a month

1 year plan - $142.45
$11.87 a month

2 Year Plan - $271.95
$11.33 a month

3 Year Plan - $401.45
$11.15 a month

Lifetime Plan - $499.99
$10.42 a month for 4 years and free after that. you can now transfer your lifetime plan for $75.

anyone know of any ways to get a discount on service?

They say Sirius is going to Canada, but I havent read anything about Howard Stern being on there. I think he is considered indedecent because of the racist stuff on the show. Anyway you just need to drive to the US, buy a reciever. Then give them a fake address in the US. You can pay your bill with your credit card online or over the phone.

Mutt,

Is the transfer fee new when replacing a receiver? I thought you could replace the receiver 3 times with no charge.

I’m on the annual plan and it works great for me. I’m due to renew in a couple of months and will gladly do it.
Mutt
on the anual plan you can switch for $40. it's never been free

you the lifetime plan, you didn't used to be able to switch at all. now you can switch for $75
Miller
I’ve changed receivers a couple of times on the same annual plan and never paid a fee. I was always dropping the old receiver and replacing it with a newer one. An example was about a month or so ago when I replaced my Sportster with a Sportster Replay.

I do agree with you about the lifetime sub in it’s not a great deal. Another note about all plans, additional receivers on the same account are billed at $6.99 per month.
BennTramer
I bought the 6 month plan about 2 months and I really like it so far.

Does anyone know for sure if we will be able to listen to Howard on a laptop, right now on my laptop I don't get most of the talk channels just the music ones on my laptop.....plus I live in the woods and can't get reception on the boombox because of the trees at my house
Miller
Trees shouldn’t be a problem if you place the antenna in the correct place. This isn’t like Directv as trees don’t cause nearly the problems. You can also purchase a 25’ extension for your antenna at Radioshack and other places.

I have seen nothing official about online streaming of the show. Howard said yes but he wasn’t sure.
