Miller,

How is the quality of the reception when indoors using your boombox?

It all depends on your location. I used the SIR-6 outdoor antenna and it boosted my boombox signal to a solid three bars. Using the antenna it came with in a window it was 1 bar with the 2nd bar fading in and out, lots of dropped signals.

Obviously you don't use the SIR-6 while at work, so what do you listen to during those times?

I work in the metro Columbus, OH area and the signal with the regular antenna comes and goes. I generally have to move the antenna 3-4 times over the period of the day in my office.

What are the hardware/signal constraints people have encountered trying to listen to Sirius in their offices? A guy I work with owns a Sirius, but it's anchored to his car. From what he's learned about the antenna on it, he said he imagines I'm going to be hard-pressed to get a signal in our building unless I buy one of those 25' extensions and get creative with running it from my cubicle up along the ceiling and finding a window where to mount it.

This sounds really difficult. I had no idea satellite was going to be so challenging to hook up. I just want to pay my sub, hook up my equipment and LISTEN! I'd love to hear what sorts of specific technical problems people have encountered.

Like I said the antenna that comes with the box is so-so. However; it does work better in metro areas. I have a window by my desk so I flip the antenna upside down and it seems to work for every 3 or so hours then I have to spemnd 5 minutes fixing the signal again.

Is it the same basic problem with some FM radios where you have to jiggle the antenna to get the reception to come in strong again? Do you ever find you need to fine tune the station on the dial, or is that pretty much set in stone with the satellite tuner?

Sorry for all these technical questions, but I'm just getting ready to order and want to make sure I know what to expect. I've found some really valuable feedback from reading this forum.

There are FM repeaters. Go to siriusbackstage.com, man. They have way more information than we got here. You'd find all your answers there.

I have the Tivoli table radio and I love it! I am hoping that Howard will put his show on a loop, so that we can listen at all times through out the day. It would be great to be able to hear the entire show when I get home from work!
The Sim
2 XACT XTR1s that I got for free (with 1yr sub) thanks to Howard's Union Square promotion last November, plus home adapter. They are great radios, especially for the price! :D Looking to pick up a boombox soon, and an S-50 when they are released.
