I bought 500 shares of sirius at 7.28 almost a year ago, it seems everytime they seem to get some steam going, they take a big hit again and fall.
If sirius has 3 million subscribers like howard says, why are the stocks having such a terrible time lately? |

Profit taking. Day trading.
XM posted shit news lately, and widening 3rd quarter losses.
It affects the whole genre and related companies.
Why didn't you sell it when it was 7.45 a month or so ago?
You should be buying up HUGE chunks of it right now!
This stock will fly in December and January.
Don't worry it'll come back. Wait it out... |

| Pardon the pun, but its a dog stock. Most telecoms are, especially satellite telecoms. Subscription numbers have nothing at all to do with stock value. |

I own stock as well and have no intention of selling it. You have to realize it takes time to build a company. Mel Karmazin has done a good job so far and he is an extremely competent executive in regards to the communication/broadcast industry.
Sales shot up retail wise in September and I think you will see that holding steady with an upsurge in late November and December as people give Sirius as a holiday gift.
With the addition of Howard Stern you can expect advertising revenue to increase as well. |

There are a myriad number of other factors other than subscriber amounts. Some data that is watched are things like "subscriber aquisition cost" (SAC) which for Sirius is high right now, cash burn rate, and about 2-3 dozen other data points that go towards making a stock look attractive to buyers. Anyway, go to any of the financial pages and look up stories on Sirius and you'll get a better idea than what I can say here.

| According to the Sirius conference call today Sirius may be Cash Flow Positive as early as 2006. |

It's because every time the stock goes up, Sirius will offer more shares to the public. I had 2000 shares, and it started taking off 2 years ago. As soon as it gets up to 15, they release more shares, diluting the value, and it drops like a rock.
Not a good stock to buy. |
