Just wondering if anyone will not be signing up with Sirius and why the hell not.
LISA C.
I haven't done it yet. Probably because I am cheap, and I want to see who will buy it for me. Christmas is coming, you know? Hey, IJ, if you are reading this - BIG HINT!!!
stonecoldcdogg
I need the money. At least 140 just to get the JVC KT-SR2000 Satellite Radio and JVC SIRIUS Satellite Radio Home Kit for the KT-SR2000
Captain Obvious
I think Howard is going to give a shitload away in the last few weeks he is on the air. I'll wait for that.
Big Hairy Ball
You're all lazy cheap bastards. =P I don't even have a job and I managed to buy one.
darth kered
i'm still waiting to hear more details.

if they don't stream his show over the internet, that's a deal breaker for me.

i'm not buying multiple units for house and car.

I've been subsribing to satellite radio since Nov 02. The problem now though is that I live in an area with little or no signal and no land repeaters. Most urban areas have ground repeaters that transpond the signal because the majority of people in cities are not getting their signal off the sattelite directly (buildings, trees, much interference in urban settings).

This also poses an interesting problem in the future. Because satellite relies heavily on ground based, FM transponders and repeaters, it will be somewhat easy for the FCC to target and start to regulate.

So, as of right now, my subscription is on hiatus (one can "suspend" the subscription for a certain amount of time without having to repay an activation fee) but there seems little reason for me to renew it since there is very little chance I will be able to get signal here and there will NO INTERNET STREAM of Howard.

I got 2.. tee hee hee

not yet can anyone recommend a specific home model? i'm thinking about getting the portable but it's too pricey right now, might just try and burn the show to CDs from my unit.
satman1962
waiting for the units to be available to Canada...then I'm in.

I've been a XM subscriber for a while and am not willing to change services...... YET!
But, I must admit that as time comes close, I'm thinking about it more and more.

I am such a procrastinator. I really need to get on the ball.
eyegore62
I have not, nor will I. I see no reason to pay money to listen to any radio host or musical program. I can find better things to do with my money.
kaylot
I don't really need it since I listen to Howard's show later on in the day via my iPod. Plus with podcasts and what not, there's no real need for satellite radio.

XM is very appealing because of baseball, but now that the season is over I have no reason to rush out and buy any type of unit. I can't even imagine how cheap or FREE these units will be come the start of the next MLB season.
thetroof
Waiting for Jackie to sign on. The comedic stylings of Artie Lange and Benji Bronk just don't make me laugh.

I haven't and don't plan too since they won't be offering the service on the other side of the atlantic ocean, where I happen to be.

in the sirius forum there's a map of the coverage and it makes a "figure 8" around north and south america. it will be interesting to see how they figure out the cover age over europe/aussie/new zealand (the only places i'd be interested in moving to someday)

Since I will Mainly be listening to Howard on it, no point in paying for it when he's not allowed to be on it. I admit there's some great choices on it even now. But I'll probably get the radio next month & wait until early January to activate it.

I respectfully disagree and here is why: podcasting does not offer live, real time reporting. Everything has to be thought out in advance, downloaded and set-up. There is very little spontaneity possible.

I think a combination of multiple mediums is more sagacious.

I want the portable radio like XM has. Sirius hardware hasnt caught up yet.

Sirius has better content, XM has better toys.

Both is the way to go for the true radiophile. Added together, it is still a smaller nut than most monthly cable TV bills. I suspect many of the people bitching about the extra $$$ are forking over to keep their cathode ray tubes hot and steamy.

I haven't and will not because I live in Norway.

Move! :ok:

Its cold there. That is important because girls in bikinis are nicer to look at than girls in down coats.

I just got it for the car, house and boombox (one receiver) but cannot get signal at work and would join with those who need the streaming from the net. Somehow that has to be worked out. They should also try to get into a CHEAP subscription service and let paying Sirius subscribers download it maybe a week after the show is over, if they were smart. The recording will also continue with or without them so they should try and get in on it without getting greedy, if they're smart.
Timmy
Can you get Sirus over the net??? Itd make sense to allow suscribers to do that. Im sure they dont make all that much over hardwear sales.
nikibs
i've been surbscriber for a while. i was gooing to cancel and bootleg when they started censoring alt nation. but they did fix that.
i honestly do not know how can one live with himself if he is healty and normal but can't set asside 100 fuckin' dollars fir something that makes thier lifes 100 times better. shame on u and all u ppl complaining you can't afford it can go shoot yr self.

now reg. online streaming. i don't know how to feel about that. on one side i do agree with you guys. I was just out to dinner with a friend that just cancelled his sub after 5 days. the reason, in his office the windows are sealed and there is no signal on this side of the building and there are 3 gigantic trees in front of his house window. so he can only listen for a bit. but on the other hand if they do stream online the original contect then there is a chance passwords will be traded and potential customers will be lost

Waiting for holiday/Howard-coming-soon specials or discounts, and trying to decide on which equipment to get. No car and won't be able to take it to work with me so it's kind of an ordeal.
zim
do you guys realize the xm portable is a piece of crap?

u cant walk and listen to the sattalite at the same time
u cant MOVE and use it

the technology is NOT THERE YET,
also
the s50 is CRAP TOO

TOTALLY

we all have an ipod already we DONT NEED ANOTHER ONE

I DO THE RESEARCH LIKE TOM CRUISE

:)
Zorax
here here, but i got my car and home set up anyway, most people spend a hunderd box on a weekend of partying anyway, so $100 and a few for a year of howard its a great deal./\/\/\/\
chibchakan
I'm waiting for better equipment. But I'm also not sure if I can receive the signal at home because I live in a apartment surrounded by trees. If they don't offer online streaming, I'm gonna have no choice but to download the shows.
