I bought the Kenwood KTC-H2A1 only last Thursday and now they're saying it has been discontinued! Now I can't get any of the adaptors to make it work in the home or car. So I have spent all this money on a unit I can't even use! Now for me, I'm on a really tight budget due to my law school tuition. So if I can't get this sorted out, I'm done listening to Stern :( which is almost unbareable! So if anyone has any info I might be able to use please let me know.
The unit is a Kenwood that can be used in home or car. |

So, take it back and return it.
Or put it on ebay.
Why did you even buy that pos in the first place? |

| I'm not sure if it's discontinued or not but if you can't get parts for it then take it back and get something else. |

Yeah I bought it from Sirius direct via their phone number on the web site. Actually the story now is that I need to "piece together" the car kit. Basically they did discontinue the unit. I can try to return it (and pay twice as much for a unit that does less than this one, and still have to buy both car and home docks) or do it this way. They claim they will still honor the year warranty so if it breaks they'll replace it. Crutchfield.com and Kenwood direct had the parts but it was a nice headache. As per buying this "POS" well with a $45K college tuition, forgive me if my pocket book is a little strapped :p At least I'm getting the service at all.
So in the end after about 4 hours of calls to the not so talented Sirius tech staff, I got a solution through a third party.
Just an FYI. Don't neccessarily buy the docking stations that are specific to your units. Many times there are less expensive ways, through JVC, Kenwood, etc (the manufacturer or other companies, selling Sirius products). So just stay alert and make sure you're not buying something you don't need. And no, you DO NOT need the specific docks. I had about 5 different Sirius people tell me that today over the phone calls. Any docking station that is made by the head unit's manufacturer, and fits your unit, is fine. In my case, my car dock (before it was discontinued) through Sirius was over $30. Now with the antenna, fm modulator, cig adaptor and car dock I'll be spending less than that.
So just make sure you're getting what fits your budgets.
As per that Kenwood unit. Actually I think it's among the best they had, other than it's size. Some people don't like bulky and I guess 4" X 4" (in dock) is bulky to some. The unit has everything all of the others I saw have. 24 presets, ability to search song title, artist, etc. It can also save specific songs and call them to your attention when they are on. Nifty little unit. It's a shame they discontinued it but I think that is something on Kenwood's end.
Oh well.
Keep listening to the King!
