Most forget the receiver pod comes with an FM transmitter. Find the least busy local FM frequency available (see your unit's menu) and enjoy Sirius on any FM in your house or apartment!

But would this work with all radio's or just radios with a digitial dial(unlike the old type that uses a knob)?

It's just a bit harder to find it and secure it on the right station.

It will work with any FM radio as long as it is not out of range of the FM modulator in the Sirius tuner. I mean the distance is limited but the entire house should work.

Thanks guys. That was a big question b/c at my job I have one of those knob type radios so at least I don't have to buy another boom box. I still have to get an antenna so it will work at the office. Thanks again.

mark at marksfriggin has a write up about this.

I initially used a frequency that had a strong signal nearby. The best thing is to determine all frequencies available. In the case of my Audiovox 88.1 through 94.1 in 1 MHz increments. Here 90.10 has the least signal presence. Using that one, the Sirius signal is outstanding upstairs, downstairs, the whole place.

Sweet, I’m glad it’s working for you. The FM modulator in most units has decent range.

I'm curius to try out the FM modulator on my Starmate Replay. I had been looking at one similar to the one reviewed at Marks Friggin -- the one I was scoping out was at HobbyTron. I may still go that route if I can't hear the broadcasts when I'm working in the yard. I'm in a rural area, so finding an open range to broadcast to shouldn't be a problem. Has anyone else tried an external modulator?

the FM transmitter on my starmate is strong enough that i can leave it turned on in my car in my driveway and i can pick up the signal clearly on my home theater receiver in my living room. no home kit needed!! hahahah. although if i want to change channels i had to go outside to the car, so i bought the homekit anyway.

on a side note, ive had fun tunning my FM transmitter to a very popular local stations frequency and then watching them fuck with their radio all confused when they start to hear howard 100 in their car because they are driving next to me and my FM transmitter signal is stronger than the radio station that is normally on there, its great.

I can get the signal all throughout my apartment, it's great.

Got my new XACT Replay Sirius radio for Xmas and lovin' it! Blows away FM radio. I can't wait til Stern starts up on the 9th!

If you also have an XACT or other Sirius radio in use at home, here's a product you might find very useful. It's the X10 RemoteSender, http://www.x10.com/automation/x10_pm5900.htm

The X10 RemoteSender lets you use all your infrared remote controls from anywhere in your house, through walls and floors. It's a pretty simple setup. You have one receiver located in the room where the audio/video equipment you want to control is located. And one or more transmitters located throughout your home. You point a remote control at any of the transmitters. The transmitter converts the IR code to a UHF signal. The receiver picks up the signal, converts it back to IR and transmits the IR signal to your equipment. Works great with no noticeable lag time. I've been using the RemoteSender for years in conjunction with a Phillips Pronto programmable remote so I can control my tv, stereo receiver, cable box and other equipment from anywhere in my house. And it works great with my new Sirius radio remote. I have my XACT radio set up downstairs in my home theater room with the FM transmitter turned on so I can also listen to Sirius through my Cambridge Soundworks tabletop clock radio upstairs. It would be a hassle to go downstairs every time I want to switch to another channel on my Sirius radio. With the RemoteSender, I can change channels and turn the unit on/off from my upstairs bedroom and home office. Of course I can't see the display on my XACT radio when I'm controlling it from upstairs, but I have all the favorites keys on my Sirus remote already programmed, so it's no big deal.

The RemoteSender kit sells for $40 through X10.com. It comes with one receiver and one transmitter. Additional transmitters can be purchased. I've seen them for $30 on Crutchfield.com and other sites. Strangely the X10.com site doesn't have a link for purchasing the transmitters. I'm sure they do. I've emailed them about it and will reply back with their price once I hear back.

Is their a FM transmitter built into the Orbiter S 4000 that will allow me to use in my house.

If so what are the frequency options?

Does the S50 come with an FM transmitter so I can listen throughout my house?

I have an Orbiter boombox - is this an option for me since I want to listen to Stern at home and am having trouble keeping a signal? If someone can help me I would be so grateful.
