I checked an hour ago (6am eastern) and there is indeed a best-of show on.
Iwas hoping there would be some sort of message on HS.com from Howard about his suspension. No such luck. Guess we have to wait until tomorrow morning to hear from him. |

| well i was thinking about all the advertisment which they have sold,and reportedlly they have recievid record high prices. so if they decied to keep him of the air wouldnt they have to give all that cash back. and thats reason one why they wont let him go till the last day. |

Not going to happen. They would lose money with the advertisers. Best-of shows are only 4 hours long. Howard's live shows go beyond 4 hours (at least here in NY). They would lose all that premium advertising time when Howard takes his show to 4 1/2 to 5 hours. |

| I can understand the suspension but it stilll sucks donkey balls. I just called Tom's office to let him know that he's a douche nozzle, but deep down inside I think he already knows that. Does anybody think all of this could be a big work by Howard, Joel & Tom? If Joel had half a brain he would know that this is the absolute worst way to go about things. The free publicity Howard and Sirius will get because of the suspension is rediculous. The way to handle the end of the show would have been to let Howard go quietly.... not to rile him up. I think they will all be in business together when all is said and done. The issue about the tapes... and a while ago Howard mentioned there might be a watered down version of the show offered on regular radio. Just a thought... I can't think of a worse way Joel could have handled things. Kind of makes me wonder what is really up with all this nonsense?  |

| There would be no reason to stage this. If Howard wanted a day off he would have just called in sick like he did a few months back. Remember every friday there was a best of?? This was a ploy, a way to get under the skin, a way to send a ripple through all of stern's soldiers if i may. This is what it has come down to. "Ill show him if he doesnt want to obey for the last 26 shows" NBC did it now Infinity is doing it. The only difference is that howard and the world already knows he is leaving. Its petty bullshit! |

That's the same as the people who were saying Howard was all bluster when he claimed the FCC was after him, they quieted down after Howard was singled out by name during the congressional hearing. Why do people always have to try and spin what howard says and does? The cease and desist letter Howard got from the lawyers was real, this is real and Howard will be super pissed tomorrow, people love to over-analyse this shit even though Howard is the most honest and forthright entertainer I know. Niggas pleez, get your heads out of your asses. |

How ironic that they should suspend Howard on Election Day. The day all of America makes their voices heard, Infinity silences Howard's voice.
This whole thing is just backfiring on Infinity. All that was achieved was that Howard and the gang got a day off and Sirius got tons of free publicity. All the NY papers were running the story today. |

Any market that Corolla appears on replacing Howard will take a major ratings haircut. Corolla's ratings will be at least 35% less than Howard's within one year and more importantly he will fail to dominate the male demo that makes Howard rich. He might then try and go for the money in which case they will fire him as a scape goat or, if they are still paddling up shits creek, they will keep him and he will ultimately end up in Don Imus territory, ratings wise and pay wise. Good fucking luck to Corolla, he is a fool for taking that gig and unless he got major money up front he will take a severe beat down from this.

Mel talks about the increase of subsribers they are expecting because of Howard, the financial future of Sirius (breakeven 2007), and a new Sirius portable device. It's uploaded via RapidShare. You see, I don't understand this reaction. I've probably haven't been listening to Howard as long as half of you, and even I have noticed how obvious the sales pitch is. I wouldn't care if the quality of the show didn't suffer, but it honestly has.
How many shows last month didn't have either:
A) Howard saying how he didn't get any sleep because he's so charged up over the new place
B) Rants about Joel or Infinity
C) The phrase "new universe"
D) Audio clips from the Howard 100 news or any other Sirius thing
The only show I can think of where none of the above happened was the show where 60 Minutes was in the studio. I doubt that's a coincidence. I wouldn't care if the conversation wouldn't last for hours at a time and if we didn't have to hear it every day. They've been talking about packing and having old guests in but that's honestly only happened a handful of times and only never really given much importance.
Just look at the show they ran on Monday for example. During the Vegas bit he was talking about Sirius, which honestly is fair enough. However, when he started going on about how someone leaked his meeting to Howard 100 News and the clip had nothing to say other than "Howard is planning lots of new programs!" the sales pitch was so obvious I almost gagged. The fact is that Howard 100 News so far is nothing but a clever advertisement. A day hasn't gone by since it's invention where they haven't talked about how great it is and then played clips from it and then fall back on the fact that it's "about the show" whenever Tom complains. Eventually it may become something, but anyone who thinks it's anything more than a clever advertisement is deluding themselves.
I'm probably coming off as an ass with this post, but I really am a fan. The fact is that all of us loyal fans WILL or already HAVE picked up a radio. Howard's preaching to the chior day in and day out. Do I agree with suspending him? Of course not. Do I agree with Tom when Howard goes on a 2 hour long tangent about the future? Absolutely, if only for the fact it doesn't make interesting radio at all. There's no doubt that an uncensored radio show will be fucking awesome, but I don't need to hear about it every single day. |
