I have to believe someone has thought of this before. Why not have a music of Howard Stern show? Several hours of classic Howard tunes and perhaps a handful of Richard Christie's latest work.

Based on the amount of material available, perhaps an entire channel... that mysterious 3rd channel.

Pony up some supporter dough and you can listen to Mutt's Stern Fan Radio whenever you want.

Infinity owns the right's to the majority of that material. Unless Joel and Howard come to some agreement on their sale you will likely never hear them again.

the music of Howard Stern is a dandy idea, we all want to live in the past but Howard has so much more to do...like Robin said this morning about the bee gees... one of the brothers is dead... there is no re-creating.
if Howard gets no tapes, and hollender could probably see to at least getting Artie his AC DC preformance, but as Howard has said we all have to believe that the best is to come. no going back . the thing that makes guests, musical or not, interesting is Howard's interview skills. and now that "nobody's listining" accourding to old fashioned radio, ALL GUESTS can come in and not have to worry about getting negitive exposure..everyone can come in and do a bit with no worry about backlash in the media, since Howard is such a non-entity in the media..Howard's guests all rock because Howard is interviewing them. Remember the Frank Zappa interview from 1987? the disarray of groups...Eagles, Kiss, on and on..hell, Howard could get me to interview well...the old tapes are fun. But i dont think that H100 or 101 needs to devote air time to re-hashing....maby H102..we shall see
i'd love to hear the old tapes. all of them, but only so many hours in the day so like Metalbastard says....pony up

keep it real and keep it live!

HOWARD 100: SWEEPING THE BULLSHIT FROM THE LAND!!

If the music was caught on E!, then Stern still has the rights. But that pretty much covers the 1994-2005 period, so anything older than that would be crapped out.

If Infinity were to ever release Howard's tapes, I think it would be awesome to have a Sirius channel called "Howard Stern Classic" or some such. Nothing but complete and uninterrupted Stern shows from the past 20 years, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

Unfortunately, E! never paid for any music clearances, so I don't believe that owning those tapes would include the rights to rebroadcast the musical performances. :(

It's a lot more expensive to play a song on TV than radio, so they almost never paid for them. That's why you almost never saw the band performances on E! When they played Stump the Booey, you got Booey Jeoparady over and over instead of the songs. Any time they showed a stripper dancing it mysteriously was always to "This is How You Do It" by Montell Jordan; apparantly they ponied up for that one song and got a lot of mileage out of it.

Hopefully in time, they will have created/re-created enough stuff to do that!
