This makes sense, one of the biggest players in the NYC market is not carrying Howard Stern On Demand, unbelieveable...

What can we do? Write them...

they will debut in january when THE SHOW starts. :hw:

I cant get it on directv, but I would castrate myself with barbed wire than give cablevision a dime.

That price will go up after the first year ....
SonOfTheBronx
Joey, do you know that for sure if Cablevision will premiere the On Demand channel in January? I doubt they will, especially here in New York. In 2002, YES Network was kept off the system. New York City Cablevision customer still don't get the FX network (couldn't even watch Son of the Beach when it originally aired). So don't expect Howard On Demand on Cablevision anytime soon (but I sure hope I'm wrong and at the very least, Joey's right).

Still, call up and ask for it. It doesn't hurt!

Hope cablevision does run it!!!
JKGroups
email is better than calling, because they stay in the system.

I know I posted this post on another Howard On Demand thread but this info is here to make sure that all us Cablevision customers who are Howard Stern fans has to pressure the company to carry the On Demand channel:

I read from sources who say Cablevision has no plans of carrying the channel since cable operators that carry it make peanuts from it since Comcast and Time Warner (who own the channel) charge too much for others to carry it. Cablevision executives know that Directv and Dish do not have the channel, so there is no chance customers can switch to a competitor for the sole reason of watching Howard Stern.

Hey look at it this way-Right now I have Direct TV. I will switch once cablewhoors get the show. That's another 100 bucs a month they'll be making
MonkMonkton
Being that I cant start a new thread I figure id post this here.

I think it would be cool if Howard made his past ppv and video releases, like New Years Rotten Eve and Butt Bongo Fiesta (and hopefully the channel 9 show one day) available. I know there are plenty newer fans out there who have not seen these shows and on demand is the perfect place for them.
slitlobes
I think Cablevision will eventually have to cave in, but they will want to find a way to charge even more for it.
Im sure Everyday there customer support must get tons of requests for the Howard Stern Channel, as long as we keep asking they will eventually carry it.

For those of you who have Adelphia in your area:

I just got off the phone with them and they all ready carry it in demanding markets and I am going to sign up tommorow. As far as the person on the phone told me, all you need is a digital cable box from what they told me but I am going to sort this out tommorow. So I will report back here tommorow.

There is a Yahoo discussion group that deals with Cablevision issues such as reception, DVR problems and of course, channels not present on Cablevision systems.

Dear valued customer;

Thank you for your recent inquiry regarding the availability of
carrying Howard Stern on Demand on our cable system. I understand and would
be happy to help you.

Suggestions from our customers are important in helping us determine
which services to add to our current programming lineup. Although we
would like to add every service that is developed, due to a limited number
of channels available, we cannot always accommodate every request. We
do our best, however, to provide those services that have the widest
overall appeal to the customers we serve.

While we do make every attempt to accommodate programming requests to
satisfy customers' preferences, factors such as technical limitations,
contractual obligations with programmers and federal government
regulations may limit our ability to honor each request that we receive.

While Howard Stern on Demand may not be added at this time, there is a
possibility it may be added in the future. I am responsible for sending
a tally of all program requests to our programming Department to let
them know what customers in your area want added to their line up. I
will be sure to include your request for Howard Stern on Demand. As
always, we will keep you informed of any new programming offerings as they
become available.

Again, thank you for contacting us to express your programming
interests. We always appreciate receiving comments and suggestions from our
customers. If you have any other questions please email us or contact
your local Customer Service department for further assistance. Have a
pleasant day.

Thank you for choosing Cablevision.

Sincerely,

Elaine C.

Why is cablevision not carrying Howard Stern on Demand? Wouldn't it
make sense that in this NYC market Cablevision would carry Howard Stern
On Demand??? Come on now!!!!

I was sent the same letter. It is a form letter. They aren't doing shit.

I post my plea for Howard Stern on Demand on the Yahoo discussion group for Cablevision customers and some always have to respond with stuff like "what's the big deal with him anyway?" and "he's past his prime", etc.

Coming from NYC, the cable system still doesn't carry FX, one of the most popular cable channels in America. So it doesn't shock me that a channel popular-by-demand, HSOD, is not on but yet they're so eager to carry the little-known NY1 Noticias this week, a Spanish language version of the New York City cable news channel NY1.

Any new word about HSOD on Cablevision? If so, please post.
sickofitall
i get 3 home shopping channels 3 spanish channels and and a couple of other channels where i have no idea what language there speaking but god forbid they give me stern on demand
Beet4President
i called many many times and emailed also. they give me the same generic response all the time.

thats the only thing we can do it just email and call constantly, the must get the hint.

i have friends who work thier and they have no idea.
