...becasue I wanted to hear Joey's opinions.
But the topics aren't that interesting. What's even less interesting is listening to the table parrot what Howard says all the time on the show. Jeez, guys, let's have some original thoughts, not ones we hear on the show everyday. Speculate a little. |

The Roundtable needs some opposing views. All of the people on the roundtable agreed with eachother, which made it real boring to listen to.
Ralph needs to let Joey fucking speak. |

I am not so sure that we need Bonghit on the round table. There has to be a show for him out there, but this isn't it.
I agree with the previous observation that it is hard to have a roundtable when it has been a week of "Best Of". |

I am with you on the need for the right mix, but I think that fresh topics make for a better round table discussion, instead of tired old issues. Much like a round table about Watergate could be interesting with the right mix of people, it is a tired topic in the modern world. We just need to hang in there, before we know it, they will have tons of fresh topics to cover. |

I somewhat agree, Boots was great, Ralph was good, Bobo was a bit on the quiet side, and Bong hit Eric just flat out sucked, John's opinions were good but his questions seemed to be repetitive and not as interesting as the past 2 shows,
Boots saved the show tonight, because he kept it real, like with the comments about being a woman-hater, I sort of agree hot broads are great to look at on tv, but offer very little on the radio, I thought that was an excellent point. |

Im on the fence with Bobo, his knowledge of the Stern show is vast, but he is more the kind of guy who is better at asking questions rather than answering them.
Bong hit Erik was a disappointment, he is a fan of the show but he is no "SuperFan" he cant even remember bits that aired just a few weeks ago, he has an opinion which I can respect, but his Knowledge of the show really isnt impressive at all.
I think Joey Boots is the perfect blend, of stern show knowledge and comedic wit, he definately should be a repeat guest.
Ralph is consistent, although I am starting to think his knowledge of the Stern show details arent as good as Bobo's, Boots or Johns, but Ralphs opinions are definatley interesting and I usually agree.
John Hein is an awesome Host, he keeps the show moving along well, like showing discipline to change subject when they went too long, or sticking to a subject when other tried to change it, He has great leadership qualities, the only thing is I though his questions were not as original or entertaining like they were the previous 2 weeks, but im sure this can and will improve |

| The reason that roundtable won't work is b/c the people on there no matter what will never be 100% honest. None of them will ever say anything negative about Howard b/c if they do they won't be asked back. It was good the first 2 times but they're going to run out of things to talk about since they can only cover the positive stuff. They should have been talking about the horrible job Ralph did dressing Howard Thursday night. He looked like a fucking Wigger, more so then he usually does. It was not a good outfit at all. And everyone was thinking it, but nobody tells him, so he continues to go on these shows dressed like that. Even the new logo when worn in conjunction with the wigger garb looks like some type of black panther sign or some shit. |

Why the hell would you be soo fucking worried about what Howard is wearing. You want the roundtable to become one of them Joan Rivers, pole slurping fashion critique shows? The show should be about how to improve the show, not a Stern bashfest that you can get on a thousand other channels. If you wanna hear Stern being bashed go listen to the fagboy Clones that are taking turns riding Howard's dick on a daily basis. |

It's starting already....I think most of the shows that are going to be on these channels are only going to be interesting for a week or two. There aren't any original ideas....they sound good when your sitting around b/sing with the guys, but when you try to consistantly produce them, they go nowhere.
Pay attention...this could become the norm. |

don't have sirius yet, but conceptually, I have to agree with the theory that without a fresh show to comment on, it's like watching Sportscenter when there were no sports the day before...
you guys should do what they do: tons of top ten lists and weekly highlights... anything to get the structure you need to keep the flow going...
remember also that the roundtable has also been responsible for sparking some great discussions on the show, most noteworthy, the "what everyone makes" discussion, that was a direct result of the roundtable... |

Bong Hit Eric was the big surprise for me. Frankly, I had low expectations of his ability to have intelligent opinions on anything other than what is and isn't high quality Chronic.
Bobo is like Drano™ on your balls... he hurts like a mother fucker. I can't stand listening to his inane bullshit and I wish they'd let him go.
I enjoy Ralph on the show because he is a pure insider and it's rare that we get the glimpse at Howard and Company that he supplies; however the way he stepped on Joey's words was plain rude and uncalled for. When Joey is invited back to "The Roundtable" (and I have no doubt that he will be) perhaps he will be more aggressive with Ralph's ego. It would be great radio above all. |

I know that I am jumping on here late - but Joey you were great last night! I hope you get invited back again. I only caught the first half hour, but I thought it was good.
Having said that...these roundtables are all about the participants. Find people that are interesting, funny, or exceptional in some "other" way. Boots is a fan favorite, I would say - he's a no brainer. Ralph, for all his faults, is an "insider" and adds a lot in that way. I thought Bong Hit was pretty good, but I'm not sure if I would make him a permanent fixture. As for Bobo...waste of space. |

Okay, I'm listening to it now. BHEric sucked worse than I imagined he would! What asshole gets the opportunity to participate in this and answers the question of what the best interview was with "I can't remember that shit. I have no idea."? :rolleye2: He is a fan...a fan who listens regularly from about 8a on. He's no superfan. He seriously didn't recognize Gov Whitman's name. Pothead, pleeze. Don't bring him back...what a waste.
Bobo was not impressive...again. He didn't add too much. Ralph is trying so fucking hard to be Howard. Did you notice when he said, "Can we change the subject? I'm getting bored with this."
Joey was a great participant to have on. He is the definition of Superfan. He expressed opinions, was knowledgeable, and was entertaining. John Hein is very good at being the moderator. He has a pleasant voice and keeps the hour moving. He really listens to the Show, so he knows wtf he's talking about. I really like the rapid-fire yes/no questions. Very good part of the Roundtable.
And to the dude who said how Superfan Roundtable will fail, because no one will say anything negative about Howard, you are SO wrong. I participated in a H100 on-air critique of Ralph. One thing I said was that Howard is like the girl in a relationship with low self-esteem who won't get rid of the loser boyfriend...lol. Howard specifically talked about my comment the next day! I've since been called for more on-air participation.
The bottom line is that true superfreak Superfans have STRONG opinions about Howard/the Show and won't be able to stifle themselves. If people participating, in any capacity, refuse to say something negative out of fear of not being asked back, they are not Superfans. They will just look ridiculous. |

I''ll keep beating the drum on this one. Hein is great but the format needs to be tweaked only slightly.
1 superfan that's super pleased with Howard
1 superfan that is willing to be critical (harshly so?) of Howard
2 rotating superfans.
Right now there is no dialog which means Hein has to carry the show. He will tire as will the listeners soon. He needs to moderate and the way to do that is to toss in someone that's unafraid to offer a contrary position. Not some O&A douchebag rather a fan that loves the show but is willing to say the emperor has no clothes (regardless of whether the emperor is dressed or not).
Everyone agreeing is not compelling radio.
And PLEASE get Ralph out of there. He does not belong. He offers zero. I love the guy but is not his mileu.
The "Ralphg and the Radio All-Stars Rate Hot Chicks Hour" is where he should be. |
|
|
| ChronoSkooma17 |
It should be something like this.....
-Jon Hein
He's a good moderator. But he asks the same questions over and over.
-Ralph
He has insider information and can be pretty honest sometimes.
-Someone like Shamela or Gerry Lincoln.
I love reading both of their posts beacuse they are extremely honest.
-An ex fan
Having an ex fan on the round table could be really interesting to listen to. I'm not talking about O and A trolls, im talking about someone who thinks the show has jumped the shark.
Enough with the asskissers like Bobo and Bong Hit.
Joey was the only one that had an opposing opinion about the E! cameras being in the studio. The roundtable needs more of that. |

| John's got to work on his questions. I'm sure Bobo's a great guy, but I couldn't care less who he thinks should have been the last musical guest on the show. It is simply of no interest and no relevance. That's not Bobo's fault, it's John's. John's terrific at moving the show along and preventing the panel from talking over one another, but he may need some writers to help craft some questions that will actually illicit some responses that are worth listening to. |

With the right mix, John only needs 2-3 questions per night. With a group that offers contrary points of view, they will move the show. Then Hein just needs to act as ref, making sure they don;t speak over each other and that the segment is not filled with redundancies.
This is why I hate Ralph here. Him "deferring" to Howard offers zero to the discussion. Bobo is the same way except that Ralph actually has an engaging personality while Bobo and Hook Nose Mike and Bong Hit Eric are just doormats. When they just parrot what Howard has said, rather than analyze what was said, it's boring.
Mut was great because he analyzed. Even that other web guy from two weeks ago was good. I think Boots could be one of the best if he's allowed to be himself.
Great concept. Can be the best show that doesn't have Howard on Sirius IF they just get the mix right. Think of it this way: Howard always has not jubs on - whether they work for him or are whack packers. Why? Because agreement is dull and conflict is compelling radio. |
