Is if down the line they jack up there monthly fees....
dave24s
And they probably will. Better off getting a yearly rate.
wolfman30
That's very possible, although that's why I paid year to year so if they jack it up, I'm covered. XM went down to match Sirius, so I doubt that Sirius will hike it up anytime soon. Possible though.

im thinkin bouts gettin the lifetime when i get my settlement check. It say that if yur unit gets jacked they transfer it to a new one for free. So I figure whenever I wanna upgrade I will just say it got jacked outa my car.
Zack
that would suck, but i could see it happening someday. How else are they gonna pay his 500 mil salary?

You can get up to 4 units on the same account....Just picked up the Starmate, great for car and home

They are probably going to charge extra for howard's channel's once they get going and have a massive audience.
alsatian01
I thought that xm was cheaper then sirius? what ever they will go through a price war until one of them fails or they merge, i will put my money on sirius dopie and dumbass were kinda funny and i listened most days they just did not have anything close to the following of howard. xm just does not have that one big name that will sell memberships, they just got out ahead in the begining and were able to hold on to the lead but that will end very soon if it has not all ready been over taken by sirius
ithesportsdude
None of the companies are making a profit, they are still in debt so I doubt you will see a price war anytime soon.
Kablemodem
Maybe Chiusano will join Sirius. Then he can take channel 102 and program ads 24-7.

Another problem Howard will have...all the phone calls coming in complaining about the pissie reception and lack of streaming. There's gonna me plenty of pissed off people soon.
blue2noise
I can't wait until his first tirade on his current equipment. :)
stivhi
it'll be interesting

Yeah I second that. I bought sirius and tried it at work and couldn't get reception in the building. No windows at work either. I kept the radio at home so I can hear the other programming and hopefully Howard is gonna replay the show in the afternoons. I was thinking about buying the new radio that can record 50 hrs. but it's kinda pricey. My biggest complaint is all the different radios that do different things. they need to make one god damn radio I am not buying all of them.
stivhi
what they need is to put some more money into their repeator and satellite coverage...
danimal1070
Any way I get recption at work in brick building not near a window?? I guess I was at work trying to use sporster boombox had a signal for a bit but for most of the time didn't get anything but looking for signal.. Is there any tips or products to get where I don't have to put antenna on roof to listen to howard?? Thanks for your help in this matter and talk later...
stivhi
unless you can get an antenna to a window that happens to be facing the direction of the satellites, you're screwed along with the rest of us
danimal1070
thanks that's what I thought. So it was probably a good thing I took it back.. I guess I still might get the s50 though. But not sure how U record 50 hrs. of programming or anything like that?? Is that easy to do, and how would U do that on your computer or something??.. Lastly really fast is there going to be any new sirius walkman where U can listen live.. I guess it sucks I can't listen to Howard but don't wanta pay for sirius if I can't listen to him live..
chelsea
Give up trying RF modulation. Get the boombox, it helps boost
the antenna & is solid moving from location to location.
Acts like a booster.

The 3 cheapy Sirius sat's are constantly moving.
XM uses real satellites, 85W for east coast, 115W for west coast.
Sirius use a totally different technolgy.

The car is another fight.
danimal1070
thanks chelsea, I guess I tried the boombox at work but it only worked at start of day and after that kept saying acquring signal for the sporster boombox, so gave up on getting it work and brough it back the next day? any idea how to get it to work in brick building with out having to have wires at work and putting it onto the room? thanks everybody for the help and I still hope I can hear howard on the 9th but doesn't seem so likely with the cheap satelitte technology sirius has..
j3ff
Chelsea, if sirius sats are so cheap, how about you buy one, put it into orbit, and maintain it.

Actually you are WRONG about whos sat's are better.

XM was FORCED to launch their third satellite because the other two were dying faster than expected, so they had to turn down the power on the first two and throw the third up to compensate.

The boombox does NOT help boost the signal at all. When you get the boombox you have to plug the SAME antenna into it that you do with the "home kit"

The reason sirius sat's are constantly moving is because the orbit around our planet that provides the most coverage required them to be moving satellites......

Please don't try and help if you really don't know what you're talking about....just sayin
j3ff
Damn you junior members are fuckin morons if you think having any kind of "Satellite technology" is cheap.
realmeandog
I have done a bit of reading around the web and the preponderance of data I can find seems to indicate that Sirius satellites inclined elyptical orbits provide a more 'overhead' signal which is superior to the equitorial geostationary orbits of XM; with regard to reception.

Cannot find any data regarding satellite *quality* and how one would differentiate between a "cheap" satellite and a "real" one.

Got any sources in support of these assertions?
