I never caught this before. In a H100 interview with Ali G were he was talking about getting some heat from a country that didn't like one of his bits.

One question was in part: "....... Through sirius.com Howard will be world wide..........."

So it sounds like someone at Sirius is planning on putting the Stern show on the net.
Franky Pants
Howard did say he had a solution to the Canada problem.

just wait and see folks. Unfortunately for me, getting no reception in my apartment, the only way I can listen to Tissue Time is to sit in my car. Kind of takes the magic out of it.

Will this weeks Tissue Time host get you out to the car? Wednesday 10pm Tissue Time w/ Blue Iris (Old lady porn star)

7PM wednesday may help with the reception trouble though.... Wednesday – 7pm Sirius Tech Help Show

The streaming is up to Howard. When I emailed Sirius about the issues they replied if Howard wants it he will get it. So, it's in his hands. But I agree with Stivhi, I get poor reception in my home and since I work in an office I can't hook my system up. It will suck if Howard doesn't allow the streaming.

The Sirius techs are no help at all. They've told me I'm out of luck. My problem is that I'm on the Jersey shore, Red Bank. My apartment faces east, and the satellites are west. The techs told me I had to put something on the roof...6 stories above me...to get a signal.
There solution to eveything, just put an antenna outside facing the satellites. This solution doesn't work in the real world where are bosses and landlords won't allow this.

The problem is, sirius needs to assure that only subscribers can get access to the stream, otherwise Howard loses money.

I am a concerned listener. I bought the Sportster, and love what I hear of satellite radio, and Howard 100. But I only have a 20 minute commute, and work in an inner office with no windows. I was PRAYING Howard would stream, but am feeling that is unlikely now.

My listening experience will consist of 20 minutes a day :( Unless he rebroadcasts on 101 during the evening drive, then I MAY get another 20.

Woo.

I'm surprised no one on this board is well connected enough to get the scoop on this. Maybe this could be a topic for the superfan roundtable? There are certainly lots of points of view on it, and it would be nice to have it tabled for disccusion....
toogoodgspot
Not streaming the show would be jewing the subscribers. Lots of people have office jobs, and the internet stream is the only real way for them to get the show in that enviornment. To alienate people like that will piss them off and most definitly some will end up cancelling because of it.
j3ff
Actually if they don't stream they'll be forcing people to seek out ways to download the show instead. Myself included. I'll still have sirius for the music.........
Thunderstruck
Not streaming will also force people to buy Sirius products to get the signal and that puts more money in their pockets which inturn help pays for Howard's deal. There's more to this than we know and hopefully we'll get the real story sometime.

See the other related threads on the Howard 100 and General Chat forums.

This subject is a big concern for a lot of subscribers who have short commutes or no daytime access except via their computers.

I try to post across all forums everytime I see this subject.

I'm in the same boat as everyone else. I bought Sirius with the intention of recording the streams off the net and listening to them the next day. I know what everybody's answer to me is: Just get and s50. Yeah, except what am I going to plug it into while it records? Should I leave the s50 plugged into my car and just leave it running while I'm 2 blocks away at work? Or should I plug it into the wall and set it next to a window way the hell far away from where I sit and hope no one wants to steal the $279 piece of equipment just left around?

If there's no online streaming, screw it, I guess I'll just have to listen to Adam Corrolla, because I'm not paying $13 a month for 30-odd classic rock stations.

You said you were planning on recording the stream and listenning the next day. Well, that's what I'm going to be doing with my S50. I'm using my car docking station at home, I'll be recording the repeated West Coast broadcast at home, while I'm at work, then I'll be taking it with me the next morning to listen. So I'll always be listening to the stream the next day.

Has there been ANY final word directly from Howard as far as wether we can can listen to his show online? I know theres a ton of speculation and if you ask Sirius via email they do not really give you an answer.

Yeah great idea, I thought the same thing except what do you record the show with while you have your s50 with you at work listening to the previous days show?
MetalliChris
If the issue is the fact is that no one would buy a radio (and just listen to it on the computer) then what Sirius should do is something very much like *Metallica* did for their St. Anger CD (and other bands, really). What they did was put in one-time use passcodes in the CD liner notes to give the buyer access to a website that offered free live Metallica downloads. Sirius should put passcodes with the radios to give users access to the stream. But then, there is a stream (in general) already right? Well then Howard should do something like that. Put out a code for his listeners if they join something. Hey, I don't know...

EXACTLY!!! Thank you! What are you supposed to do, skip every other day? And how does that work anyway? You turn your s50 on at your home before you leave for work in the morning and come home nine hours later to nine hours of Howard 100 (or is it 101) recorded? What if you stop somewhere in the middle of the recording and have to come back? Do you have to hold down the fast forward button for 20 minutes just to get back to that spot?
Sterniac
The S50 won't record nine hours - if you hit "record" on it, it stops after one hour. I plan to TimeTrax my recordings, and listen to them on my IPOD.
satman1962
Right on Parkey! I guess we could get two s50's and rotate! Actually I'm hoping for an overnight replay of the show. That would solve everything. No-one has any idea of the plans and times for that .
Bearchance
An overnight replay would solve most of these problems, mine included. Let us pray!

Exactly why I didn't get the S50 (especially since it's unclear whether you can remove what you recorded to a computer/mp3 player).

If you can get reception at home, just plug the radio into your sound card and record the show just as you would have recorded the stream.. There are a few threads around here somewhere that discuss this and talk about recording software. This is what I'm doing and you don't need a $450+ S50 setup when the cheapest unit will do.
SiriusSucks
I just recently bought a SlingBox and this thing really does work. It not only streams my TV from home to anywhere in the world, it also will stream my Sirius radio from home to anywhere in the world.

It uses an IR Blaster to control the device(s) and while it has built-in codes for any DVR, DVD, Receiver, VCR, CableBox, or Satellite Receiver known; at the moment, I've only seen one published set of remote control codes for a Sirius Reciever (The XACT I believe). So if you don't have that receiver you can just tune it to 100 and leave it there to listen to Howard. Or figure out the remote codes on your own.

For what it's worth, the streaming audio quality is actually better than Sirius' own online streaming, plus, since it's working off your receiver, you can get ANY of the channels streamed, not the bullshit partial list that Sirius provides as part of their pathetic "online" offerings.

The cost is about the same as an S50, but you get TV too. Amazon had a rebate as of this writing making it cheaper than the S50.

Just another suggestion to get Howard.
Jones
it seems, at this point, like it's not going to be streamed.

This is so disappointing to me, as I will not be able to listen to Howard any longer. I just bought a sportster replay. I can't afforf an s50, and frankly, don't want to have to listen to Howard on tape delay, not for $.

Work in an inner office, so there's no signal in here. No access to a window or roof. And my laptop comes with me for work, so don't even have the option of a stream from home.

I'm probably going to have to cancel my subscription, although I will probably try to wait until feb to at least get 10 minutes a day or the first month....
j3ff
There are other options.
royalflush1973
Why do we have to jump through hoops to get the show? We bought the god damn subscription so we can hear him and now we're being limited. I swear if nothing is done about this I think I'm done listening period. This is real shitty because we love the show and the person leading the charge has no clue what is going on with the company that is paying him and the show half a billion dollars. I'm pretty fucking pist that I have a piss poor signal were I live and the only way I can listen is if I sit in my fucking car all day. Something seriously needs to be done about this problem. I'm at work listening on line and it's great .... but when I get home I can't get 10 good min. before the fucking signal breaks up.

SOMEBODY RAPE ME GODDAMNIT!!!! I WANT THE POWER ON!!!!!
Jones
j3ff, enlighten me please. I am frigging desperate.
