| Sirius Backstage reports that an unnamed top executive at Sirius is claiming that by the first half of 2006 the S50 will have the capability to go live. |

| I imagine that would piss off a lot of people that are buying S50s this holiday season. |

| The s50 will have to plug into something. |

It just needs a power pack and some kind of wearable antenna, so it could be an accessory package. |

Unfortunately I stand corrected. This is the quote from the Sirius exec. It reads to me like it's a NEW S50 with a NEW chip that allows portability....
"This product [Sirius S50] will get incrementally better as we go into next year. Our chip development plans so far have been been optimized to reduce costs, as well as the form factor of the product. We'll take the same chip that sits in the S50 and power optimize it in the course of the next six months.
So mid-year next year you should expect to see an S50 product that is also a live radio when you're walking around with it.
And power optimizing the chip, in essence, gives you a smaller battery size, and so it keeps a very nice form factor for consumers."

| That quote isn't convincing me that their won't be an add-on. |

| Over at 'Get SIRIUS Info' they said that there are rumors that there will be a live portable kit for the S50 as well as a new S50-type device that can receive live SIRIUS content on the go. |

Sirius Hardware - one unit that:
Is capable of being truly portable - no wires
Can record 5 GBs of content (portable or docked or programmed)
Easily moved from portable to dock in car, dock in home, boom box.
Bottom Line: I want a single radio that does everything and is totally flexable. They cannot make the S50 fast enough to keep up with the demand. The S69 (my dream configuration) would be off the hook.
Who makes these hardware decisions. They need to call me. |
