I need one so I can get howard in the gym, I want to set it up to broadcast out of my car. For some reason all the damn equipment in the gym seems to fuck up the signal. I want to hear what your experiences are before I buy! PLZ post what u got and how it does.

It is unheardof to find high power FM transmitters for the car. Especially since they draw so much power. Bottom line is unless your cigarette plug stays on while the car if turned off, and you get an DC (battery) to AC (wall, 2 prong outlets) converter where you can plug in an AC high power transmitter into...if you cant do that your prob screwed. Then i would worry about your car battery loss. You cannot find, that I have seen, a DC transmitter that will run from the car cigarette lighter that will transmit more than 20-30 feet. Plus, in a gym, all the metal in a gym screws up FM reception.

For AC (wall type plugs) there are 2 that I have researched that are recommended. The Ramsey FM25B (transmits about 1/4 mile away) and the Pyle PLMD1 (transmits about 300-400 feet).

Transmission over FM depends on alot of factors, most importantly transmission power and interference.

the PLMD1 - are u sure i couldnt run that off a car battery for about an hour? -

How much is it? got a link?

I have a booster pack in my car........I could possibly try and run it off of that - it has a cig plug that I could run a power inverter (changes DC to AC) and see if that would work. That'd be awsome, I'd broad cast to the whole gym :)

dude, if this thing goes 300-400 feet that would be sweet!

is this the one you're talking about?

I bought this lil shitty one at staples for 40 bucks, and if this is the one I'm gonna return that shit tomorrow

The Starmate Replay transmitter is throwing out a clear signal at least 500 feet from my house. Not sure if it makes a difference in the car, but that seems pretty powerful to me...though until moving to Sirius I never thought twice about any of this shit and am pretty clueless :)

I have the starmate replay, and the fm tranmitter doesnt even break the fucking windows at the gym, and I am LESS than 20 feet away from my car.

I park right outside the section of the gym I workout in.... and im eye level with my car.

This shit better do better than that!
