Mutt has a nice carear in broadcasting ahead of him. I think he's a great host and by far the best part of this train wreck. I've tried to to like the show, but the panelists are just so god damn awful. They are always Howard apoligists who just kiss ass both his and each others. I know this is probably on Howards orders because as he said the other day "I only want compliments". It just doesn't doesn't make for very entertaining radio to hear 5 people who all generally have the same opinion. Like most die hard Stern Fans I love Howard when he's being brutally sincere and honest. IMO the Roundtable sucks because it wreaks of phony opinions and dishonesty. The panelists seem like their terrified they won't get asked back unless they kow tow to Howard and crew, their fellow panelists and even friggin Ralph.
My breaking point came on todays show when I thought the panelists would maybe be honest on on the one subject that is pissing more fans off than any other (including the non-stop Ralph phone calls) that issue of course being that Howard is now taking Fridays off. I expected at least one of the panelists to say "Howard taking Fridays off sucks royal ass and we as fans are furious. Not only that Howard is coasting with a 4 day week when we are now paying to hear him, but that he is truly shitting on us by replacing himself with Ralph (by far the most hated person in the Stern universe).
Not only did the entire panel endorse the Friday Show, but one of the panelists actually said "Sometimes the wrap-up show has been better than the real show so I'm sure Fridays are going to be amazing."
No Howard equals shit radio. Fridays with Ralph will suck period, end of statement.
P.S Good luck Mutt your doing a great job even with your hands tied by management who have saddled you with these awful panelists. If they ever let you mix it up and maybe include one fan per show that doesn't ride Howards jock endlessly I might tune in again. |

I enjoy the fan roundtable sometimes, but it is never going to be straightforward and honest as SFN...I don't think Howard wants that on his channel.
But it's still a young show and I'm sure Mutt is going to fine tune it and get better at picking panelists who will be honest and interesting and even a little negative without irritating Howard too much. |

So far, this is better than Best of (Friday show).
Roundtable is really goo and one reason is EVERYONE thinks they should be on it. You can be annoyed by it and also you can feel you are one of them. That has always why I like Howard's show. You are one of them. THe club of misfits. |

Right now Howard and Sabien are in full promotion mode where everything is being given a "nice, nice" spin. That's why i left the door open and will probably give Roundtable another chance in a few months. i don't doubt that once they have settled in and remember what made Howard successfull which is his "honesty", the show wil be good. I'm not looking for a panelist who slams Howard at every available opportunity, just when he deserves it. |

| I love Mutt on the round table as well. I think he is better than John Hein!! I think he has a good voice and could have a future in radio BUT I think there is no real debate on there. Everyone thinks everything Howard does is great and it is one big love fest...there needs to be more honest and open debate. |

I liked last years version better because things were more critical. Maybe there was actual criticism because the show wasn't on Sirius yet so it was easier to speak freely without the fear of consequence. Now the show is this is great, that is great, KOAB ripping callers to give an opinion.
It just isn't the same anymore. John Hein was a true devils advocate back then. Now spouts off about how everything is great. |
