Well, here in Pgh I will have to re-live the superbowl for the next 7 months until the NFL season starts again. The Penguins stink and the Pirates are already 15 games out of first place and the season hasn't started yet......

I think the Mets were mathematically eliminated from the playoffs this asternoon.
On a positive note, the Montreal Expos are looking to have their beast season EVER in MLB. Go Expos!
And Tampa Bay... not even worth mentioning.

Go Mariners!
This is our year. Well maybe. :)

Yanks will win the A.L East again this year for the 11th time. Let's see if they can finally get over the hill and win their 27th World Series title after a 5 year drought. Go Yanks!!!!!

Go Tigers! I know they will suck, but I still have to root, root, root for the home team.

:funny: Not quite. Take off the "Disneyland", they sold the team. That's what started this whole renaming bullshit. I did, however, purposely pick a logo that said "Anaheim". Fuck L.A. :)
BonswanaMiliken
I hope the Dodgers have a better year this year. At least they got of to a good start by getting rid of that idiot Depodesta...

Good attitude... I don't understand how there are half a million NHL 'ice hockey' teams in Southern California yet L.A. can't keep an NFL team.

Baseball is an aquired taste. Most people think its a long boring game. But if you've watched baseball your whole life, like I have, then you can appericiate the game and all it's intricacies.

Greatest homerun ever

Let's go Jays!
RockOverBoston
Anyone who's underestimating the Jays could easily be in for a rude awakening -- no one here's taking them lightly; clearly the most improved team in the division (Johnny Damon doesn't fix their questionable rotation, Josh Beckett doesn't fix our equally questionable infield) and they weren't a terrible team before all of the moves.

Don't think it was so wise to invest so much money in two fairly unproven pitchers - I'd have picked one, most likely Ryan - then made a run at someone huge after the '06 season. Still, the other moves should help; Glaus isn't as fragile as some would like to think, Overbay's fairly underrated.

Speaking objectively, I think we all know who the top 3 teams in the AL East will be here on the 1st of March, I'm not sure anyone with a shred of objectivity can say for sure what order they'll finish in.

If the Milwaukee Brewers were to have been shifted to the NL West, they'd be your heavy favorites. Nice to see how much they improved last year, still sucks that they're Selig's team despite what it says on paper.

WBC starts tomorrow. Steinbrenner's all pissed off about it, Bonds is afraid to play for semi-obvious reasons, but I think it's great for the game and should be a lot of fun to watch.

ORIOLES ALL THE WAY BABY!!!

You keep thinking objectively RockoverBoston and you are going to have to turn in your Red Sox Nation membership card.
RockOverBoston
Double post -- read it below. Sorry.
RockOverBoston
In defense of, you know, everybody else, it does seem that a noticable amount of Red Sox Nation have become more willing to call things as they see them since winning the World Series. Or since the trading of a beloved local icon actually made that possible, anyway.

Wade Miller was as good an example of this as anyone: here you had a guy who had - still has, really - tremendous upside, which is only outweighed by numerous legitimate concerns. The majority still creamed themselves over getting a "potential #2 starter" on the cheap, sure, but a lot more people than I'd expected were pretty vocal about how that signing shouldn't be looked at as anything more than a low-risk, high-reward possibility, and a bit of a longshot at that.

2 years ago, if our leadoff hitter had walked off to the Yankees, people would have been rioting in the streets - almost to a man, people actually understood the front office's logic behing letting him walk, and that understanding was rewarded with the acquisition of a replacement with comparable skills already who's yet to hit his peak, at a considerably lesser price. Sure, the guy was loved, and we'd all liked to have seen him stay, but 4 years, 50-60 million? That's too long and too much, and we all knew it. Yankees fans like to plaster pictures of Damon's press conference all over the place, but I've gotta tell you, we're somewhat surprisingly not pissed.

Pedro? More of the same. Might have 4 NL years left in him, I think we can all agree things might have been different in the AL.

Mueller? Loved the guy, sad to see him go, but I get it.

Lowe? Shit, we knew he was gone a year in advance. Feel bad for whom he's wound up with as a manager, because that bastard will leave him on the mound until his hand becomes one huge blister.

Millar? Fuck Kevin Millar. Go eat buckets of chicken, create annoying catchphrases and annoy the entire fanbase of a 5th place team -- that'll provide me with more entertainment than your entire '05 season.

We're getting more realistic as a group, but yeah, I'm definitly one of the exceptions to what pretty much remains the rule.
bbseim
Go Tribe, beat H-Town today 5-2! :)
