Two weeks and you couldn't come up with ten living historians with teaching positions at accredited universities that support your view? I believe the phrase is, "Qui tacet consentire."
    2. Concupiscence
Please, if you're going to do this, be serious. This subject interests me, but all I'm getting, are "kooks" and insults. "Living" - Alive now. "Historian" - An advanced degree in that field. "Accredited" - Not "Robert Price's totally awesome school of learning" or "Richard Carrier's big awesome blog!"
    3. Concupiscence
When you write, "You have no evidence..." I'm afraid I must disagree. Every historian I mentioned, plus many I haven't have affirmed that the historical Jesus was a real as Julius Cesaer. As a religious figure, there's plenty of disagreement. Can you offer a list of ten living historians with teaching positions at accredited universities that support your view?
    4. Concupiscence
The question is not meant as anything but a serious one. Why do you think pretty much everyone in academia is against your viewpoint? And I must confess I am curious as to what your background is in history?

You have no evidence that the majority of historians think Jesus really existed. Every historian will write about him because he is a RELIGIOUS FIGURE. They write about Zeus too, do you think the majority of them think he was real? How about Zoroaster? Mithra? Attis? Hercules? Adam and Eve? Grow a brain, do not start this again until you have more than zero shreds of evidence Jesus existed.

Again, I'm not asking you if Jesus existed. What I am asking you is this: With the exception of Richard Carrier, EVERY SINGLE HISTORIAN I have ever read said Jesus did exist. You are telling me to accept the idea that they are all "kooks." I'm simply asking why you think the hundreds (maybe thousands?) of historians got together and decided to lie about this and keep Mr. Carrier out of the loop?

These historians write* for certain* that Jesus existed? Then they are kooks. I know you'll never understand basic simple logic but if you don't have ANY EVIDENCE AT ALL IN ANY WAY SHAPE OR MANNER THAT SOMETHING EXISTED AND YOU CLAIM IT DID THEN YOU ARE A KOOK. Historians write about Religious figures as Historical figures. Is this really too difficult for you to understand ?

This is what I'm getting at: You are arguing that all these historians are...I don't know, that's why I'm asking.

Historians record religious figures whether they are real or not because it does not matter if they were real or not, the people believe in them and that is history. If a historian claims that Jesus definitely existed then that historian is a kook because there is absolutely positively ZERO evidence that he existed. Do not bother me again with this silliness until you find ONE shred of evidence.

No offense, but are you an historian? Can you read Latin, Aramaic, Hebrew or Greek? Can you read the dialects of those languages written/spoken 2000 years ago? If you are not, you are essentially taking it, on faith, that two historians think Jesus never existed while the others all do.

It's obvious you lack even the most basic understanding of logic and reasoning so it is as I stated before a waste of time to argue with you because you do not understand and seriously, if you did understand you would immediately kill yourself for your pathetic arguments.

Garry Wills, PhD Yale. Bart Ehrman, PhD Princeton. E.F. Peters, PhD Princeton. Gerd Ludemann, PhD University of Göttingen (and taught at Vanderbuilt). E. P. Sanders, who went to Oxford and taught at Duke. All these people agree on one thing: Jesus did exist. They disagree on who he was, but that he lived? Not a question for them.

So they have evidence to back up their claims? It's a simple principle to follow, in science and reasoning you have to have EVIDENCE to state a position. If they believe he existed and there is not one shred of evidence whatsoever that he did exist then what they are doing is called FAITH, which is the removal of logic and reasoning.

Remember, I'm not arguing Jesus existed. What I am arguing is that there MUST be a reason historians as a whole don't support your theory. Are they all lying? Crazy? Are only a few of them good enough scholars to come to the "right" conclusions?

Name the Historians that have proof that Jesus existed.

The point you're missing about Ehrman is that regardless of the substance of his argument, if history departments the world over are full of people who disagree with him, why are they silent? Where are the peer reviewed, scholarly texts about how Jesus isn't real? As with 9/11 Truth and anti-Stratfordians, they publish books, but nearly no one in that field takes them seriously.

Historians write about Zeus, does that mean he existed? Should we be protecting our spouses from promiscuous Swans that want to rape them? You can spin this all day long. The evidence that he existed is still ZERO. Can you not understand that?

    12. Concupiscence
I don't care what you think about Jesus, but I'm curious why you think so few historians agree with you? The difference between 9/11 Truth and Jesus Mythers is that I can point you to any number of texts that deal with the former from acredited persons and institutions whereas the latter I can get from a small ad from a PO Box in the back of The Nation and myriad blogs on the Internet.

Again, the evidence that Jesus existed is still ZERO and has not changed. Explain how people that never met a man can be sure he existed because 20 years after he supposedly died a bunch of letters were written to try to sham money out of foreigners. Historians write about Zeus as well and the evidence he existed is ZERO. Historians write about Historical religious figures whether they are real or not.

On the contrary, to note one example, the Smithsonian Institution has released a statement saying that the historical claims of the Book Of Mormon are not supported by history.

What I want to know is why do people like Bart Ehrman, an agnostic, insist that they know of almost zero historians who think Jesus never existed?
      1. FuriousFunk
        FuriousFunk
So there are historians that say that Jesus's magic and life is supported by history? Ehrman again? Firstly, have you read his argument? http://www.npr.org/2012/04/01/149462376/did-jesus-exist-a-historian-makes-his-case
He says that Jesus had to have existed because no one is stupid enough to make up a story about a Messiah that is so easily defeated. He also says "Mythicists' arguments are fairly plausible".

I don't mean to be rude, but what I'm asking is why do you think literally thousands of historians are either a) conspiring to keep this a secret or b) utterly incompetent? How else do you explain the fact that there are more 9/11 Truthers in academia than Jesus Mythers?
      1. FuriousFunk
        FuriousFunk
Historians write about ALL of the Gods, Magic God Men and Religions. They do not state that these people existed unless there are true proof. Do you think there are Historians that have secret proof that Jesus existed but they are hiding it? There is no proof so give it up.

Serious question. I don't want any foolish answers, otherwise don't answer. Why do you feel that your conspiracy theory (Jesus never existed and nearly every historian is lying about it) isn't crazy but 9/11 Truthers are spouting nonsese?

People have conspiracies about every major event and sometimes they are correct like in the case of the Gulf of Tonkin and in how Bush lied about WMDs in order to force a war on the Nation

but the 9/11 facts are resolved, the physics are correct and there is millions of hours of physical video evidence that prove the buildings were not demolished, the planes weren't drones and aliens didn't do it so they could build a 30 mile long city under the Pacific Ocean(actual conspiracy). If you want to believe in your magic man, then fine, just accept that there is no evidence whatsoever that he actually lived.
