$150 pay for 1 hour of programming on Howard 100/101

This is the standard pay according to John the stutterer

Is the Sirius budget really that small? No wonder they can't find anybody to do anything new and innovative with those channels... But according to Howard, he's doing John a favor by giving him a medium to offer his opinion uninterrupted

I dunno, paying a retarded person $150/hr seems pretty good, especially when there's no hard labor involved, just sitting around and bs'ng. I'm sure no wackpacker can find better wages. Unfortunately it's only 1hr a week, but they could easily find work outside of sirius the rest of the week for minimum wage.

Yeah 150 bucks per hour is nothing to scoff at.

If that's true it's a sad reflection on the "Revolution". And anybody saying "What a performer on Howard's channels should be getting is less that a DJ on a rural AM station" is really just spitting in Howards face. $150 shows is the revolution? I will not accept that. I made 150 bucks playing a half hour of bad punk rock WUNH in 1984. Wow.

Remember, John has an ISDN line at his home. So $150 isn't bad in this economy.

$150 and they bring no revenue into Serious. It's a $150 loss.

Has that asswipe ever had more than a minimum wage job? F him. Give Medicated Pete or someone who isn't a complaining douche a job. John the Stutterer actually makes people take Ralph's side.

Please. Most professional radio guys would love to get $150 an hour, even though it's only an hour a week.

I would jump at the chance to get that kind of money for only an hour of work, that's $600 a month for 4 hours of work! How anybody could complain about that, I don't know, especially a wackpacker.

Let's say the average radio host does a 4 hour show a day, 5 days a week, let's say even 40 weeks a year, with $150 an hour that would be $120k a year. How many DJs on a rural AM station make that kind of money?

There are more costs than the host's meagre pittance:

    ISDN line
Engineer has to come to his home
Someone back at Sirius to flip switches

The host can also schill their wares on the air for income if they want (Riley)

It is not a bad gig.

This is 2012 not 1984. The rate if fair.

Let's see: so you have a guy who has nothing better to do, and goes into a radio station so he can mouth off, he has no previous experience, has no technical skills, has not prepared anything (ok maybe he wrote down a few notes about what he wants to talk about, big deal) and is complaining about getting paid at a rate of $150 an hour? Give me a fucking break.

Wackpackers are not talent. They are a bunch of weirdos who are funny when they open their mouths because they're sad and pathetic and Howard has spun their lives into something funny. They don't bring anything extra other than themselves. They are good sports (usually) when Howard wants to do something with them, and a lot of them have parlayed their accidental fame into appearing at gigs where they can charge a decent amount of money.

Explain to me how Howard owes them anything else. These are fans of the show who have become famous because they're fucking weird, not because they have any talent. They're not forced to do anything.

If you called into the show and your call ended up being the funniest shit on the show that day and people talked about it for days, would you call in again asking to be paid because "it made the show funn"? Please.

$150/hour? There are shitty lawyers who don't get paid that well.
  16. JustinStLouis Full Member

$150 an hour isn't much if you're only doing one show a week.

Not debating whether they should get paid more or not, just saying it's not as simple as simply saying they are getting $150 an hour. Not like they are doing multiple hours.
  17. g0rd0 Full Member

What other more profitable work would he be doing during that one hour?
If he chose to work a normal minimum wage job, he would have to work at least 18 hours to earn that much.
  18. benjysux Full Member

Finally agree with you Bobo. Problem is, Howard was given a budget to program 101. So if he is too cheap to pay real talent, then you only have wackpackers ready to work for $150.

Howard should just shut 101 off if that's all the money that's going to be put into it. I'd love to know where all the marbles...I mean money is going for the channels.
  22. Cyber Lip Full Member

Is Sirius providing Howard big $$ to place programming on that channel? If so, and he's pocketing big $$ because Sirius is paying him a lot and he's paying the 'talent' very little, then yes, he should pay them more.
  23. jimmyritt33 Full Member

if you listen to the Kool Aid drinkers, the money comes totally from Sirius without any input from Howard.

It's a symptom dude. Remember how Gary the Retard wanted nothing more than to come visit for his 60th birthday and Howard said he didn't feel comfortable making "fun" of Gary anymore and totally blew him off? Same deal. If you were at a job for 3 years would you expect a raise? Whatever that job is. Pissing on the people that made the show so we can hear the host of ET and her cuckold husband for an hour was an excersize in misery...for the short time I listened. That Gary thing was the turning point as far as me giving H any slack about SHIT. Today's show was the best show I've heard in a loooooooong time BUT not only does it not make up for yesterdays show it can never make up for Gary the Retartds hurt at not being allowed to come out for his birthday. This dude was a part of the show for years.....can't spend $500 to fufil his dream? Fuck you. Thanks for todays chuckles (courtesy of Adam and ETA) but FUCK you.

    Beer's>Cohesivness's and still right...fuckkingt
