Absolutely the worst week of Stern radio I have ever heard. Old shows are old news, not to mention Kinisin's humor was crude, unsophisticated and not witty or clever at all. Would rather have listened to last week repeated, at least it had 2012 humor and 2012 "sound" (hate Howard and Robin's old personas). I've listened to terrestrial news radio all week.

I agree Mutt that the last vacation was Best of Sirius. What I didn't like is that it was cut up and dissected a little too much. I would love to hear a full show from beginning to end from the first year of Sirius...it was great radio, and was funny to hear the show evolve into being uncensored and limited commercials. I did like the Best of Sirius also...and I like Sam, but just a little too much of him this week.

OOHHHHHHH this week has been painful. Really bad. The late 80's to mid 90's had so many great ongoing story lines that they could have followed w/ the littlest amount of effort.....well actually I guess that's not true. The SMALLEST amount of effort is doing a whole week (welll....a Stern week) of Sam Kinnison. No matter how much you love Kinnison this has been too much.

Anybody who says they really enjoyed this week is lying or just so enamoured w/ Howard they'll defend the show when ti's nothing but static. Should be a great SFR. "SO PABLO BUDDY..WHAT DID YOU LIKE BEST THIS WEEK!!!!" "Ah Mutt I really liked the Sam Kinnison bits". Not a lot to work w/ there.

Good idea for one day, but not for a week. Oh well, it is what it is.

I kept going back to give it another chance in hopes that something funny or interesting would be on. Nope....worst week evvvvvvver!!!

I agree that all specials have proponents and detractors - all *bits* do - but this week is pretty epically unlistenable for more of us than usual.

If they did better market research they would be able to better pinpoint preferences, demographics and psychographics and we may be less subjected to tepid specials and unsavory sponsors.

But, mostly, I just find Sam Kinison stuff horrifically dated and boring.

worst rerun week ever. Not fun, not funny.

The tapes are electronically tweaked to eliminate the silent pauses so more content can be squeezed in.

Jason Ellis on Stars TOO/Faction has been a saviour this week - at least he's got a nice long show thats funny and engaging. One day of Sam woulda been enough. Say what you want about different generations of listners, but without any context Kinisons humour is awfully bland and just isn't funny any more. And yeah, HSS has really gone downhill this year since Jan. Enough agt crap already.

Some of us have never heard this stuff before so it's interesting regardless.

That's probably the best thing about acquiring the rights to the old shows as it's give everyone a chance to hear something that we may not have heard before although the bulk of this week's content has been played quite a bit.

I have enjoyed this week immensely. I remember the "Sam" shows and I get the references. Howard seemed so quick with great conversation with Sam and witty retorts. Those were the days when Howard put so much of himself into the show. Sam was always one of the best guests. I can't believe some of you feel Howard was still "honing his craft" then. I think of the terrestrial shows as his best.

That is still one of the funniest bits ever!

I'm plenty informed on the show and pop culture. I just can't listen to old Stern. And allow me to suggest to you that being the most popular is by no means a barometer for quality.

The only one I remember bitching about tapes was Howard. I was ready to hear new radio, not go back. The tapes have been a crutch and it's just unlistenable.

Agreed. I couldn't listen this week. I mean, Sam was a good comic, but Howard thinks he was unbelievable. They could've filled the week with a lot better material.

I have no interest in Sam Kinison, so to play a whole week of it...ughhh...but, for those who like him, he did have some funny rants... anyway, when will the live show be back? Way more relevant and mature ;)

God, Worst week ever...Old enough to have been there when it was live, it wasn't that funny then and it is sure as hell is not funny now. Thanks for putting in the least amount of effort into programming when Howards gone....

While I'm not a huge fan of Kinison's comedy, you can't deny there was some of his material was genius. Moreso than a stand up comic, he was a PERSONALITY. Who in stand up comedy nowadays is a personality? It was actually refreshing to hear the fire in his belly to take out other comics on these old shows this week.

How many calls are gonna be let through telling Howard how this was an unbelievable week of shows with Sam.
