I am a pretty old guy at this point, a bit older than Howard, and I was educated in Catholic schools. I know this sounds crazy now, but there was a time when the major emphasis of Christianity had to do with your own relationship to the Big Guy Upstairs, and figuring out how to live your life down here while it lasts. You were expected to keep your morality to yourself, since no Christian is allowed to judge another person, lest we be judged ourselves. There was nothing about policing other people's sexuality, and homosexuality was never even mentioned.
These days, when a person, especially a political person, identifies themselves as being Christian, you automatically know that they are obsessed with preventing other people from having abortions and from having gay sex. If you are a Christian, those things are none of your business as long as you are not doing those things yourself.
The New Christian, sexual activist/abortion preventionist is really a type of Un-Christian. They are doing precisely what we have been told NOT to do. It seems to me that Howard has taken a position that is in opposition to the Un-Christian christians, the kind of people who want to regulate other people's speech and other people's behavior. I can't say I blame him. I hate that shit too.

Jesus would love to be a guest on the HSS, and Howard would love to have him on.

i'm an atheist, but i hate your post. Went to catholic school for 8 years...excellent way to learn....but never did i get the impression that we were to "keep our religion to ourselves" (you couldn't be more wrong about anything...thus i claim your post is a pure lie to make a point).

christianity has dogma related to "secular" concerns.....you can pick and choose what you believe...but don't lie.

I am not lying. Of course there have always been busybodies who have nothing better to do than to mind everyone else's business in the name of religion, but that isn't what I am talking about. I am talking about the religion itself. Christians are under very strict and very direct orders, from the J-Man Himself, not to judge others. It is kind a of a big deal and central to what it says in the New Testament. The fact that most Christians don't follow it is beside my point. The point is that those who want to regulate what other people say and do are in outright violation of what Christianity is supposed to be all about, according to the guy who founded the thing Himself. The real problem for me with Christianity is too much education. Plus I actually read The Book. The stuff the Pat Robertson kind of preacher says is way out of line with what it says in that Book. No two ways about it.

most christians actually do follow your way of thinking.....but the notion that christians are supposed to keep their religion to themselves is absurd. "judge not lest ye be judged yourself"...is a moral thing.
Christ himself spread his beliefs...his followers as well.

As an atheist let me just say, fuck your religion and all of them. They only breed hate. Keep your hands off my life you miserable fucks.
