    i'm running os x 10.6.8 on both macbooks

    all is well

    any sw upgrade seems pointless, and i don't want to risk compatibility issues w/ a few programme installs i use (which aren't fully authentic, if you know what i mean).

    i hadn't realized it but in looking at the upgrade instructions on the apple website, it appears you are right. as long as you have os x 10.6.8 you can upgrade directly to mountain lion for $19.99. i remember upgrading my old mac os's and having to pay $120 for them. twenty bones is pretty sweet.

    some cool features that make it more ios like and there are some track pad things that are cool. i'm thinking i'll stick with 10.6.8 for a while. everything works great, i have no complaints, and i don't want to invite issues when i don't need to. probably i'll jst stick here until i get a new macbook pro or macbook air or whatever.
