Artie Lange: Last day on Stern Show was "Horrifying"

Discussion in 'Howard Stern' started by Bill Cosby, Apr 3, 2012.

Anyone catch Nick and Artie on Monday?

Artie said his problems hit their 'peak' that day. He was asked to leave the Stern Show early, but refused and made them "upset". Artie claimed he wanted to leave on his own time .

Its around minute 27 of hour 3.

I just downloaded it and listened. Overall he's been very quiet about what happened with the HS show and Sirius but it seems he's starting to open up little by little. If he ever does call into Bubba's show I have a feeling that will be THE interview to hear since Howard clearly isn't going to ever have him on the show again. We'll see.

Oh and as I side note I hadn't listened to the Nick & Artie show since the first week it was on. Good to hear it's still unlistenable crap.

Howard will have to have him on eventually.
But you are right, we will get the real story if he does Bubba's show.
If Howard has him on, he will stick to the script Howard hands him.

The only thing horrifying about Artie and the Stern show was that Howard let him on.

Artie is, was, and always will be a losers loser.

Both Howard AND Artie said that he'd eventually be back on the show.People have brought up Artie coming back on and Howard said definatly he'll be back on.People think because Artie isn't immediatly on then there's a problem.Howard did say it'll be a few years but he'll be back.Just like Richard Simmons.Just like Pat Cooper.Just like Mark Walburg. They all come back.

I wonder how close Artie was to slapping Howie in the head. He was really strung out at the end and anything that Howie would have said could have pushed him over the edge. Maybe he'll open up once he accepts that he will not return to the show. Actually the way the show has been going there really is not need for another voice in the studio. The conversation, bits and guests are so lame that it really doesn't lend itself to another personality, such as Artie. I would love to hear Artie tell Howie to shut the fuck up about AGT, then fall asleep on this desk. Now that's great radio.

And how has the show improved since Artie left?

Maybe it's that super sexy hot vixen Robin Quivers increasing her role as the show's "voice of reason", or maybe it's Benjy's great jokes that have made the show better.....? No.....wait; it's Sal and Richard's lame and unfunny bits and phony phone calls or Ronnie's fake arguments with everyone on the show......
OK...OK it's the DWTS, Bachelor, photography, and AGT jabber plus Gary's lack of booking A-list talent as guests that has improved the show.

Since Artie left the show complete mediocrity reigns, and Stern's lack of commitment to the show is a real improvement.

The good news is that with Artie off the show, you can buy a NSAL calendar and you don't have to worry about anyone on the show having the balls to tell the listeners that the calendar sucks.

Is this a serious post? It can't be.

Howard's more recent responses to callers asking about Artie completely contradict what you wrote in a consistent way. This is way beyond a difference of opinion.
    You're just wrong.

Artie was 45 minutes late to the show tonight....

You're just right...just listened to a clip on youtube where Howard says to a caller. "No..I don't think so."... The title of the video is "Howard Stern on having Artie on as a guest"... sorry no link...probation

It's very clear that Artie is using. I doubt Howard would have him on again unless he was 100% sure Artie was clean. I personally don't think it will happen.

45 minutes late tonight? No surprise.

Here's a transcript (with minimal editing) of Artie talking about Bubba and his last day on Howard's show:

Caller: Are you ever going to be on the Bubba the Lovesponge show?

Artie: I want to go on the Bubba the Lovesponge show more than anything in the world. There’s been a lack of communication problem for some reason, but no, I love Bubba, I will go on that show, I promise you, very soon. It’s been a weird situation why that hasn’t happened, by the way. I will be on. Does he still have the same gang? Spice Boy and Twenty-five cent and…

    Caller: Yeah…

Artie: Oh good. Brent, and everything?

Caller: You should just call in… 1888 69-BUBBA

Artie: I’ll try that hopefully I’ll get through. He has a lot of listeners.

Caller: One more thing. Howard was on vacation, but before they went on vacation they were talking about you, about the last day you were there. What happened the last day you were there? They didn’t get into it…

Artie: It was horrifying. Listen; clearly I had some well publicized problems that hit their peak that day. I don’t remember much about it. Like Robins news, apparently I was there, but I don’t remember much of that, and they didn’t know what to do. They wanted to send me home and I wouldn’t go home. I’m mad I didn’t go home because they wanted me too and I really didn’t want to upset them anymore, because I love those guys, but the problem is, in my head, I love the fact that I stayed. Like, if my last day, I was on there 10 years and if my last day I didn’t make it through the show, I really would have been mad about that…
The last day was a little crazy, but I’m sad I upset them, but I’m happy, in a way, that I finished the show. If I didn’t finish that last show, as much of a slob as I look like, I’d…

    Nick: You’d be incomplete.

Artie: That’s right. Do you think I look complete now?

The fact that he says "I'm glad I finished the last show" shows he isn't cured.

Cmon man..You know I listen to every single show.I'm hated because of my positive view of the show and because I listen to every single show.It was around Dec or Jan show when a caller asked if Artie would be back on the show.Howard said hesitantly that he'd come back on the show but it would have to be a few years. At least he was honest in saying it instead of bullsh*tting about it.....Marksfriggen.com may help you out....

I don't care about your positive or negative views.
I only commented on what you posted.

If you follow the PATTERN of Howard's recent comments, he's not having Artie back. He may change this in the future if Artie made unassailable changes that address Howard's fears, unease, concerns and distrust. The weight of that is what he has spent the most time speaking about on-air regarding Artie and this is what you've pushed aside. He's freaked out and views Artie in a very different way now. Artie just recently spoke about being asked to leave. That would have never happened before dude. Your thinking here is discounting what has been presented by all parties involved.

Also, 0.0 is the amount of personal communication he's had with Artie and the reasons why are non-trivial and related explicitly to Artie's behavior. You're also ignoring this as well.

You don't seem to get how serious this is in Howard's mind.
He's telling you but you are not listening.

On a recent live show howard was discussing how he didn't know Artie was that fucked up on drugs. Robin said something to the effect of 'You know something was up on that last day" and Howard exclaimed that oh yes he sure did.

I love how Artie refused to leave early his last day, after a few years of passive-aggressively asking to be sent home early...

He sure does talk about Howard a lot, doesn't he? He's a Martling in the making already...

Howard fears Artie in a way. While Artie has a huge amount of repect for Howard and the show, he's that loose cannon that could let loose at any time. What could he say that will pull the curtain back on the show and how he was let go? Howard cannot trust Artie on his show, so that's why he's not on. Howard lost control of Artie so Howard moved on.
