    Black on Black has potential...

I've had a chance to listen to a couple episodes, this is a show I want to like. I think there's quite a bit of potential there, but the guys really need to put some thought into their show.

Add some structure, come up with some repeating segments, themes, ect...
+ Big Black Popular News Commentary
    - give the black man's perspective ect...
    + King's fashion advice
    - latest styles must have accessories
+ Big Black, how to game the system.
    - How to live ghetto fabulous
+ King and Black talking sports or other popular culture
    + Show Guest

Slow down the King of all Blacks when it comes to putting Big Black down and telling him he's not living right. This is o.k. if Big Black really says something out of line, but he shouldn't just bust on him for no real reason.

Slow down the King trying to prove he's a man. This is totally ridiculous, the guy must be the most insecure man on the planet.

Things I like about the show.

    The guys have distinctive voices...
The guys show the diversity and struggle of belonging to the black community.
+ King, West Indies black man trying to be an American NY style black.
+ Big Black, a black man that's been included by the white America's culture, but
still strongly identifies with the U.S. black culture/community.

This is probably the most interesting aspect, the ghetto style black mentality is looked down upon and seen as something to get away from, but it's also a strong identity for the black community. The black community seems to put down black people that shed that culture in favor for the general American culture.

You're supposed to be educated, but still maintain the black persona... You can see this struggle in both of these guys and they come at it from different angles. If you talk like the white man then you're some sort of traitor and should be shunned. Something is wrong with you...(Big Black) If you make money as a black man, working an honest job, then there's something wrong with you. You're not hard, not a real black man...(King of all Blacks)

Anyhow, hope to see this go somewhere, and I'd like these guys to find the courage and stand up and be who they want to be and show break the negative aspects of the "black" stereotyped popular culture and still be legit.

Right on the first point, so wrong on the second.

I find that when they have guests those were the worst parts of the show. Two that come to mind are the last girl who was on the show (she dated Swiss Beats) and the guy who works at Sirius who came on to defend himself. Geez I wanted to throw my radio out of the window and that guy took up the first 20 minutes of the show!, 1/3 of the entire show.

Either way, the show needs to come back, best show on Sirius (besides THS).

I agree, those weren't their best segments. I actually was ok with the Ferrel guy, but I get what you're saying. That being said, if they had some legit D list or better folks, I think it would be good for the show.

I'm just not sure which guests would be brave enough to come one with them :) It would be interesting to have someone like a Falva Flav, Wesley Snipes or a Samuel Jackson on the show. It's probably a long shot to get them at this point, but maybe they could work up to it if they smoothed things out a bit on the harsh talking.

Well, at this point it might not even matter since big black may be out of the picture. The dynamic will certainly change, don't know who could be a good counterpart to the King. The King likes to feel like he's in control and superior, that make Big Black a could co-host since he didn't let that bravado affect him.

Anyhow, hope Big Black will come to his senses and be willing to give up the Section 8 crutch to participate in a chance of a lifetime.

Heck, if the show doesn't work out, he could always go back to his Section 8.

But if it doesn't, then that's cool too. Big black is the man! There's no show with out big black.

Big Black made a mistake. It's an easy job that pays. I enjoyed the show.

LOL, is that phrase for real, I hope not, I have enough of a problem with "that's sick".

Anyhow Big Black is a showcase for one of America's biggest problems. Dependency on the government and a general sense of entitlement.

Big Black is like so many 27 year old kids that cling to their parents for support because they are scared to go into the "real world" and have to struggle. Big Black avoids living life because he has the option of living a parasitic existence without any real incentive to change his ways...

Yeah, it's a tough world out there, but people have to get their courage up and fight. Sadly there are too many that don't, they shouldn't have this option.

it would be a totally different show with Angry Black. A lot better i think. The surprise of Big Black being a good host kinda wore thin quick when he really had nothing to bring to the table. But he was great at taking calls and running the hour. More interesting to hear him run his hour than lots of other stuff they try on 101

It will never work without Big black, they had great chemistry. The Angry Black idea is a terrible idea.

Thought I heard them say something about a new "episode", just recently, but I missed it - or was I hallucinating?

I live in an apartment building in Baltimore,MD. I don't need to pay for a Sirius subscription to hear The Black on Black show, I'll just go outside. If I want to hear ignorant ass black people, argue about nonsense, I'll just sit on my back patio.
  20. John D'Onofrio Probationary Member

They should have a show with JD and King of all Blacks just to see if anyone can understand a word either of them say. You could call it the Mush mouth and Mush mouth show. Just an hour of mumbling to fill time between commercials. Better than Riley Martin.
