You misunderstood. I'm sure he meant Howard goes out to a bowling alley.

It had been confirmed years ago in numerous print articles for example: The Huffington Post 3/28/2008:

It's a castle fit for a king (of all media). Now that construction on Howard Stern's palatial Southampton spread is moving along at a good clip, it may be time for his buddies to call dibs on his numerous guest rooms.
According to plans filed with the town, the three-level custom-built oceanfront mansion measures just over 16,000 square feet, with eight bedrooms, 12 bathrooms, a great room, a media room (natch), an attached cabana, a bowling alley and a wine cellar with a tasting room.

Missed the individual light for each shoe in Beth's closet.

Why wouldn't he have a bowling alley?
  10. NachoGrande Full Member

Agreed, however this was the first time someone said it first hand, besides the Rob Zombie slip up.

Not jealous at all, I think it's kinda cool. I think it's lame that he won't admit it and the story he told that he went bowling in the hamptons was just silly...

I'm surprised by the bowling alley, he just doesn't seem the type. Tennis perhaps, but bowling?

I was providing that mainly as further evidence in anticipation of the inevitable djenkin8 post that would somehow claim bubba was wrong and Howard and the other millonaires actually went out to a public bowling alley, got rental shoes and bowled a few frames.

I remember hearing Robin and Howard joke about it. I forget the exact words but it seemed like in the sense of "Hey, bowling is the sport for fat, bald, trailer trash so I don't have my own alley, right?" It didn't sound like a serious denial. Like how he makes up a story about Vietnam so he can sound like a tough guy.

Uh oh, one of those things which are not to be spoken of has been spoken of.

People here have their panties all in a wrinkle because Howard denied having a bowling alley, and this all goes to the "he calls himself the most honest man but he lies to his fans" bullshit. No seems to have the common sense to come to the conclusion that Howard just doesn't want to flaunt all the stuff he has because he doesn't want to seem like an arrogant asshole.

And yes, it might be lame, but so what? Its a fucking bowling alley.

No, because he never cames across as an 'arrogant asshole' does he

It's such a stupid thing to deny. I bet one of his snooty friends told him it was white trash to have a bowling alley in your mansion.
  21. boeing46 Full Member

Thanks for the clarification. I believed Howard when he quickly deferred a comment that he has a fucking bowling alley.

If Howard's not paying you to be such a sycophant you might want to get an agent.

Or maybe a shrink, because to a normal mind, telling your fans you'll piss on them if you want after asking they join the revolution of three (sometimes two) day work weeks made up largely of informercials about your new job on America's Got Talent would be flaunting.

Denying denying denying that your 12-bathroom mansion in the Hamptons has a bowling alley is like saying you drive Veyron but don't have heated seats, as that would be "flaunting" your wealth.

These retards will whine and whine about it for years. They have nothing else in their lives. I doubt if even one of them have a job that doesn't entail asking people if they'd like fries with that. Go check out the wig conspiracy idiots, they are as insane as 911 conspirators.

I know people like to goof on Howard's big house, "Chimney Mansion" etc, but seriously, all that his house (and the Manhattan apartment as well for that matter) represents is a sensible way to invest his money into something that does not depreciate. When is it not sensible to put your money into real-estate?

Howard's knee-jerk defensive about the bowling alley is consistent with his ways of not wishing to flaunt/draw attention to his wealth. Howard really does not have a historical pattern of conspicuous consumption nor pretentious acquisition of high-priced items just for the sake of it.

Since he also lives in the private homes that he is investing in, why not make them nice as well?

I know that some of you guys prefer to goof on his bowling alley and private fitting room full of wigs in the east wing instead.

No one would begrudge him for having it. And no, of course Howard isn't one to flaunt his wealth. But when "THE MOST HONEST MAN IN THE WORLD" lies to his audience when the subject comes up, it just seems dumb.
