I love Artie. He is an asset to the show. He has obviously had relapse problems over the past few months, based on his demeanor, erratic behavior and speech issues. I hope he gets healthy and stays with us for a long time.

However.... I believe he is out of control and lacks the discipline to conquer this. I give him 6-8 months.

In all fairless he does go to therepy 3 times a week. I'm sure he does his share of whining.

Artie is such a classic addict. Selfish to the nth degree and completely full of himself.

Listen to the show right now. It's all about how Sal and Richard are not comedians. He just said, "I'm smarter, funnier, and better". He forgets that he's nothing but a longshoreman. What makes him better?

He's been on the smack for years and continues to lie to others and to himself. Entering an outpatient rehab is a cop out. If he thinks he has a problem, he should really face it.

the black eye may have been him nodding out like he does every day. It has been so obvious artie has been on drugs durring the shows, he is not sleeping he is nodding out to subutex. he takes way worre then the dosage you are supposed to take, I bet his doctor finally stopped his perspription and art could not deal with it and needed professional help.

Not much is sacred to Artie Lange, but the health of Howard Stern's right-hand man is apparently no laughing matter.

Lange's publicist has confirmed to E! News that the longtime shock-jock sidekick has admitted himself to an intensive outpatient rehab facility.

There's no word on where the New York-based comedian is being treated, or what he's being treated for.

News of his in-treatment status comes after Lange canceled a string of stand-up dates, as well as a planned appearance on the Comedy Central roast of Bob Saget, which taped in Los Angeles Sunday night.

Last April, Lange made headlines when a verbal on-air argument with his personal assistant turned physical, resulting in him tendering his resignation to the Sirius Satellite Radio show.

While Stern accepted the resignation, an apologetic Lange was allowed to return to the show later that month with the caveat that another similar incident would result in his termination.

Lange is still expected to return to the Stern show when it comes back from hiatus later this month.

The past-his-prime comedian has checked himself into rehab after several public meltdowns, reports the New York Post.

Lange's rep, Lewis Kay, confirmed that Lange missed Bob Saget's Comedy Central roast on Sunday night because he checked into an intensive outpatient rehab program.

A source tells the Post Lange "felt awful for not being there for Bob, but needed to make his health a priority."

In April, Lange quit in the middle of his radio gig as Howard Stern's sidekick after getting into a violent, on-air altercation with his assistant. A month earlier during an appearance on Conan O'Brien's show, Lange was shockingly candid about his drug use, admitting he had called in sick to work earlier that week because he "ran out of cocaine." As O'Brien awkwardly tried to steer the conversation into safer territory, Lange cracked "here's some advice for the kids: only do coke if you're good looking. It sucks doing cocaine when you're ugly because every time you do a line, you gotta see your face in the mirror."

Ok, officially we're shocked and horrified. But unofficially? That's freakin' funny! His presence at Bob Saget's roast was surely missed. We can only imagine what he would have done with all that Olsen twin fodder.

I don't even believe he was, in fact, a longshoreman. He was probably simply a manual laborer, who tried to retro-glorify the work he was doing.

Whatever doctor was giving Artie all that Subutex should be looked into. Seriously, that guy should have known there was some abuse going on. Artie was taking those things like they were Tic-Tacs; you're only supposed to take, like, one a day.
