Here is a list of former u.s. presidents( ALL DEMOCRATS ) that got the u.s. either in a war or made a mess of this country. Take Truman for example when he left office his popularity was at a all time low but now he is regarded as on of the best Presidents the country ever had.
My point to all of this is only time will tell what kind of leader Bush is. I am not a fan of any war, but did we really have a choice about leaving Saddam in power?

That is yet to be determined... just as WW2 played out.... It (WW2) was extremely unpopular at the time as well...especially since the standard of living was extremely tough for most in those days.

Of course we did! He has been in power for a long time and he helped keep the area stable and he kept Al Queda out of Iraq. Now the entire area is unstable and Al Queda has a strong foot hold in Iraq. On 9/11 we were attacked by terrorist that were religious extremest. Saddam was a secularist. The same terrorist that hate us were not fond of him, we did THEM a favor by removing Saddam. And now we have lost focus on the real war against those that attacked us in Afghanistan. And we still haven't gotten the guy behind 9/11. Seems only a fucking moron would wonder whether or not we should have invaded another nation and removed their government while we were already engaging a different enemy in Afghanistan. I know we took on two different enemies and two different war fronts in WWII but it took the use of nuclear weapons to end it. Not even Bush is going to start using nukes at this point.

Saddam 's demise was running his mouth ... ( compounded by not complying with Blix)
He threatened using ( and claimed he had) WMD's on anyone that got in his way... He was fucking reckless...and made some poor fucking moves..

I do have to thank Truman though, as my family from my grandfather on wouldn't exist......

Ha - I have no reason to prove your bullshit. WW2 was nearly unanimously supported by the population. You clearly don't know your history. Zero credibility with you buddy. Pick up a book.
  10. cunning lingo Full Member

That's ok..... I'll just take the word from the people that I know/knew that lived through it. Try visiting a Legion or VFW ..... you may learn something that's not in your books.....
  11. cunning lingo Full Member

Oh , and you hurt my internet feelings with the zero credibility thing. You hardly know me.

You'd be amazed at the difference between contemporary public opinion and historical hindsight. Iraq looks like the shit move of all time right now, but in 50 years that could be completely different.

There was tremendous anti-war sentiment surrounding WW1 and 2, and Lincoln was one of the most hated presidents of all time during his tenure. I'm not so sure Bush will be remembered well, but stranger things have happened. It really depends more on what's going to happen in the future than what has happened so far.

look woodrow wilson was a mother fucker. he was the 1st asshole to start this new world order crap when he helped form the league of nations but eventually that wasn't good enough so when roosevelt came in prescott along with some other assholes tried # 1 to get rid of roosevelt but instead he went along with it otherwise they fucking kill his ass and say it was his polio and said ok japs are coming let it happen and that will also get us in ww2 abut he died anyway but it was they had a used suit salesmen wwho was really gonna ramp things up so he nuked teh japs and helped to form the united nations thus replacing the other asshole globalists are about now thin, king holy shit there are too many people in the world. and then kennedy he went along for a bit but screwed at the bay of pigs and refused even more nam. and so on..you know how it goes ..neext is hillary ..she gonna take us into iran ..and once we take iran in aboput 30 years that will form they hope the african union which will essencially be run by the united nations who also run all teh other 3rd world shit holes they helped to create and now wanna destroy it and try it again.

I know enough to know you don't know what you're talking about ww2 not being supported by Americans - it is known widely and accurately as the last American war that was.

I call bullshit - and I have volunteered at VA Hospitals - you couldn't be further from reality. bzzt wrong = you

True. Rosie the Riveter, etc. EVERYBODY was pitching in to help the war effort.
You didn't dare let anyone find out you registered as a conscientious objector if you didn't want to get beaten half to death.
    There was unanimous support.
I don't remember the reason why, but I think Truman's low approval rating was because of the interment camps.
Oz, you seem well read in this area. Am I correct about this at all?
He became popular later for going back home after leaving office instead of making millions like Presidents are lately prone to do.

Is it fair to say a lot of those old-timers believe their own propaganda and have, maybe, embellished a bit?

Horton finds a Who is good too...Thx Have you ever met a WWII vet , or only seen them in books? That's right, the VET , not the guy on the couch reading the book in '45.

You're talking about hanging out at a VFW bar - I'm talking about my family members, VA hospitals and historical fact - get your story straight before you continue to embarrass yourself. To say that ww2 didn't have wide support is completely naive. What are you 19?
  22. cunning lingo Full Member

So , you live at an old folks home, your a candy striper in a VA hospital and a Librarian at night ...Got me there...you win , I'm owned I guess...lol

Got you how? You can't read for shit. That's not what I posted. Are you seriously proud of being a dumbfuck?

And while we're at it how come you're not still trumpeting your bullshit about ww2 being a hated war? Oh, that's right - cuz you're full of shit. Way to go - so are you 15?

btw CL - why don't you go look up why WW2 is called "the last popular war"

Oh its GREAT to hear from someone that has a brain in their head. I cant tell you how many idiots I run into to this day that think Saddam was part of 9/11. I guess what my Grand father told me is true, if you tell someone something three times it becomes fact.
