Notice he didn't bother responding to my post. Saying radio will end when Howard retires is like saying that TV wouldn't survive the ending of Seinfeld or the Sopranos. Much like Howard's work in the 80's and 90's those shows changed TV but their ending had little effect on the medium as a whole. The difference is those shows went out on top while Howard has chosen to go on and on, giving a watered down, part time, "evolved" version of the old show. The fact that Howard chose that path will make his retirement even less of an event.

And even though he will never believe it here's an old news clipping showing that towards the end of his free radio career, djenkin8's hero wasn't #1 even in NYC:

Star & Buc Wild are popular radio personalities who hosted their morning show in New York City from 2000 to 2006. At its peak, the Star & Buc Wild Show was consistently one of the top-rated morning shows in New York City, at one point surpassing the market's long-time leader, "The Howard Stern Show."

Come know that is just your "opinion". I wonder if DJenkin told Jennifer Lawrence that "radio is over" in 3 know..when he rubs elbows with her at his work.

I've never lived on the East Coast so have never heard of this show, was it somethat that appealed more to young people? If it was, then it probably got the important demos as well. Howard used to complain to Tom often in the early 2000's that the old skewing rock programming at WXRK was costing him ratings.

If he can't bring Artie back then put Jim Breuer in the Artie chair.

I think this all stems from when Howard said he could outrun anybody on the staff and they all just laughed at him

I have to say, NOPE! Can't stand it.

Maybe once every 2 YEARS would be OK but I'm not even sure about that.

    Boring Interview!!!!!

Two days until February 5th and Howard's shakeup of the show. Gary must really be sweating it out this weekend, particularly since Howard refused to talk about it on Weds. show. My assumption is Sirius is making cuts and the show will too. It's not clear whether Howard TV survives or not, what will happen to Benji, Sal, Scott the Enginneer and that little buck toothed guy Brandano. Up in the air is whether Gary still reports to Howard, the status of Howard 101 programming, will Jason have a larger role, and whether/if Robin returns to the studio. An insider called 2/5/13 the "biggest day in Stern show history" in terms of changes.

    Hold onto your seats, folks.

Maybe he'll announce this is all a dream and he never left K-rock.

Either way, I bet Gary's lips and gums are soakin' wet from being licked constantly.

I don't listen to the show anymore, and Marks Friggin' doesn't make it clear: Does Gary know what Howard is going to say on Feb. 5th, or is he as in the dark as everybody else?

Instead of bringing in an interpreter, can he bring the funny for a change?
