NFL now requires fans ejected from game for unruly behavior to complete and pay for online course before returning: report

Policy has been in place for a few franchises, but now all NFL teams will require rowdy fans that get tossed to take anger management/alcohol abuse course.

Supporting your team is fine, says the NFL, but if you get unruly and tossed you now have to take an online course before you can return to the stadium, according to ESPN.
The NFL is cracking down again - but this time fan behavior is the target.
According to an ESPN report, the league is now requiring any fan who is ejected from a game this season to complete - and pay for - a four-hour online course before they are permitted back in the stadium.
Some teams have enacted this policy in the past, but this is the first season all 32 teams will require the completion of the course, which is centered on alcohol abuse and anger management, before re-entry.
Dr. Ari Novick, a psychotherapist, and MetLife Stadium security director Daniel DeLorenzi designed the program. ESPN reports that the cost of the course varies by team. The Detroit Lions charge $50, while the New England Patriots charge a league-high $100.
Those who fail to complete the course and try to return could be arrested for trespassing.
Ray DiNunzio, director of security for the NFL, told ESPN that monitoring the offenders will vary by stadium, but could involve facial recognition technology.
Back in 2008, the NFL introduced a Fan Code of Conduct to try and control rowdy behavior in the stands.

Unless a crime is committed ( being drunk and obnoxious is not a crime) how can they kick you out and then levy a fine on you? You're already losing the money paid for the ticket, if your actions are not serious enough to send you to the stadium pokey, why the fine?

The article, at least as quoted above, doesn't mention a fine. There is a fee to take an online course in alcohol and anger management. The League can't require anyone to take it or pay for it. But they can ban you from their property if you decide not to.

They're just a sports league, not the law. If the circumstances are bad enough that they choose to get the individual arrested, then that's enough of a punishment, no need to force them to pay for a class for re-entry. If the circumstances do not warrant arrest, then being ejected should be enough of a punishment, again no reason to force them to pay for a class.

    Real World Star's Death
ODs on Viagra, Cocaine, and Booze

"Real World" star Joey Kovar died after taking what could turn out to be a lethal mixture of Viagra, cocaine and alcohol... law enforcement sources tell TMZ.

Our sources say ... Thursday night, just before midnight, Joey went to a woman's house in Chicago Ridge, Illinois, told her he'd been doing cocaine ... and asked her to drive him to a location where he could score more coke. The woman, Stacey Achterhof, rebuffed his request, and asked him to stay at her place.

We're told Joey, who was also fueled up on alcohol, took "some Viagra" and messed around with Stacey ... but they did not have sex. At some point Stacey fell asleep, and when she awakened early Friday morning she found Joey bleeding from the nose and ears.

You either do something bad enough to get the police called in or you don't, can't have it both ways. The nfl (which is not law enforcement btw) can't decide that a situation is not serious enough to call the cops, but then also decide to charge people up when they themselves determined a crime was not committed.

Not sure what exactly is tripping you up fucktard.

Even for lighting up....the US is slowing moving from a nanny state to a police state

According to the ESPN report cited:

Skeptics might wonder how teams are going to keep track of ejected fans from week to week. Ray DiNunzio, the NFL's director of strategic security, told ESPN the monitoring will vary by team but could at some point involve facial recognition technology.
Approximately 7,000 people were ejected from NFL stadiums last season. The number varied by team but some teams are known to be more strict in certain areas than others. The Oakland Raiders, for example, have a zero-tolerance policy for smoking. DiNunzio said the Raiders could eject up to 300 fans a game for lighting up.

I'm no pussy, but I've had a few bad experiences bringing girls or kids to Dolphins games because of unruly drunken ass holes. I'm down with finding a few ways to get rid of shit heads when I pay 75 for ticket, 30 for parking, and 10 per beer.

It's not the govt, it's the NFL that are trying to improve the live experience.
  20. vector1701 Full Member

Your right about assholes being completely blitzed and out of control...they should be thrown out. It is sickening when I see crap like that....
I agree 100% they should be tossed.

Yes, the NFL is trying to improve the live experience (especially when they have seen a downturn in attendance in recent years), but whether it is the NFL or New York City (soda bans) I think overall we are increasing living in an era of "hurt feelings" and increased rules/laws to protect the "offended."

I agree with drunken/unruly/fighting fans being thrown out of games, especially after a warning. Should someone be thrown out of a game, be forced to take (and pay for) a 4 hour online course and pay a fine to be allowed back in because that person did a fairly harmless infraction like smoking on the outside concourse? Not me. I just do not like these "zero-tolerance" policies as they have unintended consequences....

It's 2012 and anyone that smokes (minus Gary the retard) knows where they can and cannot smoke. You get caught smoking in a non smoking area then you deserve a double fine and double secret probation.
  22. viper6575 Full Member

I hear ya. The smoking / soda thing is ridiculous.

They better work on fixing the live experience cause the home experience with my 55 inch HD screen and grill in the backyard has been winning lately in my decision to go or not.
  23. vector1701 Full Member

Agreed, and I respect your opinion too bro.

Your damm right about the fan experience. The tickets are so expensive, plus parking, plus $10 beers/concessions. It is cheaper to got a bar all day, watch all the games and give a generous tip.... Or just stay at home.

And the NFL thinks it is increasing the fan experience with free wi-fi....BFD
