I am getting a new car this week that has the XM platform after several years of being a Sirius subscriber. Before I call XM, has anyone had any luck negotiating the fee difference for the premium package with XM to get 100 and 101? Thanks.

I was in the same boat as you just today...Sirius subscriber for 7 years, but my new car had an XM radio. I called to cancel the Sirius subscription on my Sportster radio. When the guy asked why, I told him that I'd been a loyal subscriber for many years, and if I couldn't have XM service in my car with Howard for pretty much the identical price as what I'd been paying, I was going to cancel my service altogether.

I was paying about $215/ year for basic Sirius satellite service plus an internet sub. The guy offered me the XM "All Access" package...which is XM "Premiere" (includes Howard) + an online sub....for $214/year.

    It can be done!

I went through this last year when I bought my new Chevy Silverado. I'd been a subscriber of Sirius for years with multiple radios and when I called to switch my one subscription over to XM, not only did I have to create a separate account, they wanted to charge me full price for my remaining Sirius subscription. When I complained that I found it ridiculous that although they had been merged for more than a year, they were still putting radios in brand new cars that could receive only one of their streams. The sales rep told me that they are one company in name only and they were unable to merge my subscriptions. I had to threaten to cancel in order to get the discount on the second sub but they told me that it would only be for a year and that I would have to call back and negotiate again. This company is the worst. Nickel and diming loyal customers. My wife could give a shit about listening to Howard, the NFL, or MLB and I'd switch my second sub to XM to avoid a hassle but I've already purchased at least 4 Starmate replays and her's still works fine and when it finally breaks, I still have my old radio I can activate again. I refuse to spend any more money on this company than I have to.
