Huckabee: Chick-Fil-A Appreciation Day

I'm certainly happy to see the Democrats adding their support to gay marriage to their Party platform this year. Clearly gives people a choice nationally as to whether they feel this issue should be mandated under federal law.

I agree with Adam, the entire issue is nothing but a waste of time, all of a sudden a chicken place is the epitome of freedom of speech? Please, if it turned out Chick-Fil-A donated money to the Obama campaign, the right would want their minions to boycott it, so this whole thing of politicizing issues to suit your own agenda is fucking retarded. This really just shows how someone will jump on a bandwagon if it gets their name out.

WHo is 'he' ?? So he should also 'call out' those who support legalized drugs ?? And do you understand the difference between disagreeing with someone and using your power as an elected official to threaten to punish, or punish someone because of that disagreement ???

And they have been stopped from putting a new restaurant in Chicago...

This will certainly help CFA to increase business. I also appreciate what Mayor Menino and Alderman Merino have done by denying them opportunities to do business in their domains. This issue belongs in front of the USSC. Do they have the right to deny a business to open based on their personal beliefs?

Does freedom of speech indeed mean freedom of govermental consequences of that speech ?
  7. NCMike06 Full Member

Not if your views are conservative or religious (except Muslim)
  8. sir1us Full Member

You obviously don't remember the outrage from the right about the Ground Zero Mosque do you? Didn't think so, more right wing lies and fail.
  9. zimmie Full Member

So you're saying these politicians don't have the legal authority to deny a business to operate based on their personal beliefs correct?

Spoken like a true hateful liberal. Why do you hate America?

Just because we don't want gays to marry, or teach our children, or live near us, or hold hands in public doesn't mean we hate them. We just disagree with the fact that they chose to be gay. Jesus created Marriage for a man and a woman.

I've already said the Mayor of Boston crossed the line by denying a business to operate based on their beliefs. It really backfired on him as we've seen, but again the whole issue is just a waste of time IMO. We already knew supposed moral christians are opposed to gay marriage, did we really need CFA appreciation day to drive it home? It's a symbolic victory for anti-gay advocates, nothing more, and aren't you the one always talking about unemployment, recessions and the economy, I guess those issues took a back seat to a chicken sandwhich eh?

You forgot to mention New York City Councilperson Christine Quinn who has to sent a letter to NYU asking them not to allow Chick-Fil-A to open after summer break or remain on campus because of their "discriminatory views".

It's a good thing she's doing by asking all of her constituents what they think is right; and keeping her own lesbian agenda in check while representing her district.

I missed the part of Cathy's comments where he said he doesn't serve Gays and Lezzies? When did he say this?
Lets say you have a business and you publicly said you believe in evolution. Does that mean you're discriminating against religions people?

Do you get it? Last I heard, Chick A Fil wasn't licensed to perform marriages.....

Damn that Rush Hannity! I glance at his avatar and automatically think it's a Vacate post. Thinking that Vacate wrote, "We just disagree with the fact that they chose to be gay. Jesus created Marriage for a man and a woman" had me going. :jj2:

I wonder if schools are going to have issues if they get an invite to the college chick fil a bowl?

I thought Seth McFarland (Family Guy) had a good joke that kind of puts into perspective how stupid and pointless this whole thing is.

Neither do I but when we elect officials, we are electing them for many reasons, one being social issues. CFA has donated millions to anti-Gay groups and they have the right too....but people also have the right to object to them selling their food in their neighborhoods.

You are incorrect on the Sabbath part. I realize what I'm about to type is too much information for your little brain, but I'll write it anyway.

Chick-fil-a is closed on Sundays, the Sabbath is and always has been on Saturday. Which is why Jews, Catholics, Seventh Day Baptists, Seventh Day Adventists, United Church of God and many others observe on Saturdays. Sun Day was the previous day of worship for pagans to worship their Sun Gods, during the Christian hijacking in the 4th - 6th centuries, they replaced existing traditions with their new ones: Yule and Winter Solstice became Christmas, Easter and the spring festival of fertilty became about Jesus, the Sabbath was bumped over to Sunday, etc.

I would have much more respect for Chick-Fil-A if they had the balls to close on Saturday.

PS: To be fair to Chick-Fil-a 99.99999% of all "Christians" don't know any of their history either

The owner of a restaurant chain believing in evolution isn't the same thing as him going out of his way to support the inequality of a minority group.

Gays will never be equal until they have the exact rights that straight people do.
    budgerock and NoName like this.
  23. zimmie Full Member

Every denomination can choose whatever day of the week they choose to observe the Sabbath. No one is bound by the 4th century

    Did somebody say Sabbath? :D

Once again, like sheep, the Baby-Boomer-Liberals say we should change a social institution that has existed for literally thousands of years, across all peoples, cultures, creeds, religions, and nationalities ......and dammit, we need to change it.

After all the Baby Boomers have done a wonderful job running the govt, running the economy, and now they will run/ruin the family structure.

As Howard Stern said, the Baby Boomers will eventually screw up everything.
