Never been to the comedy cellar in the village before. Had plans for weeks to take my girl there tomorrow as we are spending the night in the city for a little staycation. Have been checking comedycellar.com all week to find out who is performing. I go to the site this morning, lineup is up and who is on it? Artie Lange, still says "from the Howard Stern show".

So we shall see. Hoping I do not get the walking to st louis and niiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii**er joke again like its 2008 all over again.

Be prepared to hear comedy gold such as "If you give a hooker money to buy you coke, she won't come back with the coke."

    What's a staycation?

Going away but someplace local, sort of an oxymoron. I live on Long Island but my girl and I are going to stay in the city tomorrow night, get a hotel, do tourist shit, etc. Thats a staycation.

    did you make a reservation?

if not, make sure you do so. i haven't been there in a while but it used to be required because they would sell out some of their timeslots.

even if you get a reservation, make sure to show up about 20 mins prior to showtime. it's first come first serve, and i remember they used to overbook in case of no shows.

there will be a line going around the block. a woman will walk down the line with a clipboard with a map of the tables and ask you where you want to sit. the venue is a little place in the basement. every seat is a good one, but try to get in the front if you can.

also, a little tip...all of the comedians hang out upstairs at the olive tree cafe before/after/and during the show to have some drinks at the back of the bar. if you go up there, it's easy to shoot the shit w/ them if you so choose.

^^^ what he said..show up 30 mins early and look for the guy with the clipboard to get a ticket for your table...since your with a girl they will put you in the front if you ask(hey buddy can we sit up front) ..then go to one of the many bars by there and get a few drinks..come back 10 minutes before the show and boom..i.

If it is like his latest Twitter offerings, it should be sad. Baby Gorilla needs more time off.

The only place I would go see Artie would be at his viewing. I can be sure he would never be funnier than he would be lying in a casket.

El Comedy Cellar es en mi opinion el mejor club de comedia de la ciudad. Artie o no, vas a pasar muy bien mi amigo.

Ok, so to say he was good would be generous, he was descent at best.

-He looked awful, still in the 300 lb category, wearing a free DIY (Do it yourself) network fleece and really shitty Nike sneakers.
-His eyes were very glassy and he was unshaven
-Gun to my head, he is still on drugs
-Happy at least it was all new material, nothing I had heard the previous 10+ times I have seen Artie. Was not awful, was entertained but not as good as the 5 other, lesser name comedians who were there.
-Lots of heroin jokes which I would not recommend. Since most people do not do H, they do not relate to it and do not find it funny. If you are not a Stern fan, you do not even know he was a H addict, so might not get it.

He did about 10 minutes, while the other comedians did a good 12-15 minutes. Not sure why he cut it short. I did not have high expectations for it, so it lived up to my expecatations but could have been alot better. Glad to see him out and about though as I do wish him nothing but the best. Guy gave us so many great years of entertainment as anybody who wishes otherwise is a douche.

Thanks for the review KOAW. You confirmed what was expected.

Artie is great when mixing it up with others but I personally am not crazy about his own stand-up efforts.

When will Artie really decide to get better?
    Hopefully soon.

    This is about his father.

Not shaving is part of his image, I don't think it means he's still on drugs. I wish he'd cut down the drug related jokes though, it limits his marketability.

I did not think he was on drugs due to shaving. I think he is on drugs due to his glassy eyes, unusual demeanor, and his borderline obesity.
  15. TripTo My Taint Full Member

His obesity is not borderline. In face, it is morbid obesity. I hope he straightens himself out.

I agree. He's best on the radio, interacting with others. His acting and stand-up are very ordinary.

Ill take your word for it. I dont know what the weight is for his height to be considered clinically obese.

i think he wore that fleece on the last late night show he was on (letterman or fallon?).

anyway, didn't he get that fleece when he did man caves like 5 yrs ago? he's really putting that freebee to good use (or they're paying him to wear it? but i doubt that).

i dress myself hahribbly too so i guess i shouldn't talk.
