What does that even mean? I help people all the time that are under the age of 21. I just hired 3 last week. I'm not sure what the fuck any of this has to do with anything. You think the gov is going to provide this elusive "luck" that you're talking about? People get help all the time. My advice to those having a hard time? Quit being an asshole.

Over the last few months I've participated in over a dozen photography workshops. Some highly technical, others geared towards business and marketing. I've been giving serious thought to branching into commercial photography. After a 3-day intensive this past weekend where a plan was all but laid out for me to follow, I realized I'd be stupid to let it go to waste.

While standing in line at the store today a woman struck up a conversation with me and asked if I'd be interested in doing some work for her. I immediately thought about what I'd said earlier in this thread. Yes, it was fortuitous to stand next to this woman, but without the months of preparation I would not be able to consider taking on the job. It's doubtful our conversation would have even taken place. Luck is about being in the right place at the right time, but it's also about being ready and open to it when it comes. As a result of the workshops I've offered to do several free photo sessions for people who would benefit from them to build up my portfolio. It goes both ways.

No doubt you and I have disagreed in the past and will again, but you were correct the other day... (I forgot to respond because of a 4-day workshop) each side needs to grow up and make a full-hearted attempt to be the big boy/girl in the room. It is the only path to rational discourse. I don't see it happening on the national stage, but it can very slowly happen in 1:1 conversations. BTW, let me know if you ever want someone to photograph those bougainvilleas.
