I Just Got Sirius!!!!

Yep...I was holding off till about the December Time frame... I was hoping the technology would get smaller and better reception, BUT...I got it as a graduation present. I got the STARMATE.

GUYS, this thing is awesome!!!! I took about 15 minutes to install and it is tiny. Reception in L.A. is ok (Not great). Channel 98.7 seems like the best reception. But I just found out that Sirius is planning to launch another satalliite. I did drive down to San Diego and I got great reception from channel 87.5. Either way, I am listening to it on my PC clearly (This will be awesome at work). Raw Dog has very good stuff, rap is uncensored and 80's and 90's music is great.

Nice! I've had mine for about two months, just ordered the boombox!

    are you sirius?
  4. MickeyWrangle Full Member

dude, do not use the FM modulation (98.7, etc.). hook it direct to your deck's aux input (10$ adapter) and you will get crystal clear digital quality (akin to a cd). go see a pro, they will show you if you can not do it yourself. i was in socal 4 a couple months early this year, and reception is perfect if you are hooked up well. you can thank me l8r...

FM modulator works fine for me, I have aux inputs on my head unit but I haven't had a chance to hook it up.

    Cool! Thanks Bro!

    xm products are better
  9. MickeyWrangle Full Member

yeah earthdog...for now. everyone knows about xm's head start though. ever hear the one about the tortoise and the hare? i was at ces this year. in two years sirius equip. will be with it's programming atop the satrad heap. i expect a few competitors or buyouts (buyins) as well. equip makes a lame argument in this age. if you are serious get sirius. xm is a ge/nbc/cc/ corporate softball lobbed at the unsuspecting masses a-la onstar. it can not last long term with it's current plan....but, time will tell. i suggest putting your money where your mouth is.
  10. MickeyWrangle Full Member

    if you have any.
  11. TIJUANA1 Full Member

I agree with mickey. XM has the head start but Sirius will eventually catch up. XM programming is pretty shitty (I travel a bit and sometimes I rent cars with XM)...Why bother with better equipment if the programming sucks. Without any Bias due to Howard, I can honestly say that SIRIUS has better programming options...Besides, Sirius has made huge strides this year with their equipment. I am really amazed with the starmate...I have also checked out the sportster, and it seems pretty cool. XM seems to have peeked with the MyFi.

By the way...AUX vs FM Mod Question. I just cheked my car an my car stereo doesnt have AUX input. It does, however, have a CD changer option. Does any body know if you can (or if Best Buy can) connect the Receiver using the CD changer option? I know this can be done for an IPOD. They run the cable from the trunk (where the cd changer would be) and up through the dashboard.
  12. MickeyWrangle Full Member

yes the cd changer is the aux input/output (depending on how you look at it) TJ1. that is what you hook up your sirius to. and to answer winst...

possibly, other locales....who need more choices...

restraint is bad....but corruption is the neighborly thing.....maybe???

maybe, just maybe for backup??? Sirius 2 XM 1...who is really winning/ whinnig????

reception and coverage are 2 completely different countries in line for a world of change....

    !gaf a si tsniW
  13. TIJUANA1 Full Member

Do you (or anyone here) know where I can get this done? I'll call best buy tomorrow, but they are usually no help.
  14. MickeyWrangle Full Member

go to a car audio specialty store/custom shop like audio express or audio excellance. also ultimate electronics is the best as far as chain big ones go out here. best buy sucks as a rule for installs.

not that i know or heard anything but perhaps the new supposed satellite will cover the canadian market should their gov't sign on. :hw:

XM clearly has better products and content at the current time. Sirius may catch up a little after Howard comes aboard, but it will never beat out XM, because most of the true Howard fans have most likely already subscribed to Sirius.
The most likely scenario would be Sirius and XM merging, with XM keeping the name.
If you just look at the stock on your own, or ask any wall street analyst, they will tell you Sirius really has no chance against XM.
  17. MickeyWrangle Full Member

you are a tard. NOBODY gives xm a content edge, and a merger is out of the question...dickus. look at the licensing granted. sirius may very well not pass xm, but what what do you like more....coke or pepsi???? how does RC rate.......
  18. JoeyBoots HATER

you're a dummy....nothing you wrote makes sense or has an air of truth to it.....take a dirt nap. :hw:
  19. TIJUANA1 Full Member

I don't know...I really like the programming at Sirius better than XM...It might just become a Microsoft vs Mac thing. they both just want to tailor to their own markets. XM and Sirius can't merge untill a third company springs up... There has to be competition or they will be accused of creating a monopoly.
  20. MickeyWrangle Full Member

for the record i believe that sirius will pass xm in sub numbers within 2.5 yrs. (especially if xm is forced to account for giveaway subs) and be quicker to sustainable profitability. just my opinion.
  21. MickeyWrangle Full Member

btw joey, that is messed up saying that dlobo is too good for me...wahhhhhh.....shit, i thought i was alright for a newbie.

I wish sirius would run the Howard Stern Show continuously around the clock 24/7. I think that would be a great move for them. Then you could hear Howie any time you had that was free. I think they'd make a fortune having a channel just dedicated to his show!

    Luv, Suzy!

What exactly are you basing that one?
  24. SternIN504 Full Member

i will definitely be getting Sirius..
